The Grade 2 Listed Cottage was the housekeeper's cottage to Heathcote House. The ground floor with porch and a cosy sitting area also includes the kitchen, refurbished with cooker, fridge and microwave designed to mix old with new.
The floor is tiled and the living area has a rush matting rug, armchair and settee and cream-enamelled gas-coals stove set in a fireplace inglenook. There is a TV (Humax satellite) with DVD player, Radio, CD and an eating area with window seat. Tea towels are provided.
The cottage, set back off central main street, is near to our excellent village shop/post office and two pubs serving real ale and pub meals. Car parking is within the courtyard or for those with larger vehicles (eg4x4) the Heathcote house orchard is 130 metres away.
The village is in the dales between Bakewell (6 miles) and Matlock (4 miles) and local attractions include Chatsworth (5 miles), Haddon hall (4 miles), Matlock bath (5 miles) with its cable cars plus crich tramway museum, peak railway, Tissington trail, high peak trail, limestone way and the Derbyshire dales.
Within the Winster conservation area the cottage and adjacent Heathcote house built in 1672 are grade 2 listed. The village prospered in the 1700's building fine, stone Georgian architecture along main street and many stone cottages rising up the hill through a maze of alleyways and footpaths leading out of the village into the surrounding hills and dales.

The spacious bedroom on the first floor is accessed up a single flight of stairs and has a very romantic four-poster-bed, chest of drawers, dressing table, hair dryer and wardrobe hanging space within the shower lobby. Bed linen and towels are provided. The en-suite shower room is fitted with wc, bidet, wash basin and walk-in shower, walls and floor tiled in travetine marble with heated towel rail/radiator, all bed linen and towels are provided. The shower is fitted with overhead spray and for those who require only a shoulders-down shower, an adjustable shower head is also provided. If you require a bath, this can be made available (en-suite, but up a flight of stairs) by arrangement.

Car parking is within the courtyard giving easy access to the cottage. For those with larger vehicles(eg large 4x4) after unloading, further spacious parking is available in the orchard at the back of Heathcote House 130 metres from the Cottage door. The compact courtyard has 2 seats and a table kept in the adjacent store for outside use.
