Home description
The Hayloft is completely self-contained with access via original old stone granary steps which rise from the quaint and pretty courtyard full of various cottage garden and climbing plants. There are sitting out chairs and a barbecue available on request. The whole area is rich in wildlife with deer often being seen from the windows and gardens. We also have our own free-range chickens and lovely eggs with that long-forgotten taste for sale.
Panoramic views from The Hayloft windows take in the beautiful gardens and private paddock together with the rolling farmland towards Darley Hillside and the wooded and heather clad hillsides towards Stanton and Beeley Moors.
A wealth of natural stonework, original king post truss and old pine timber framing give an olde worlde atmosphere to the high class accommodation which has been tastefully restored, decorated and equipped to a luxurious standard with old pine furnishings throughout, but also providing all modern facilities.
An open-plan kitchen/sitting room with full size fridge-freezer, microwave and built in cooker; sitting area with comfy cream sofa and easy chair,TV and video all make for easy, comfortable living.
There is a spacious, character double bedroom with comfortable genuine Victorian bras & iron double bed complete with new 10" mattress. A vanity unit with gold taps is set in an alcove alongside a fitted wardrobe, and there is a dressing area overlooking the courtyard and en-suite shower and toilet.
Being owner maintained throughout the year, The Hayloft is kept spotlessly clean and you will also find little extras like washing-up liquid and a loo roll!

The Heart of England / Peak District / Peak District/Derbyshire region
Derbyshire and the Peak District is an area that has something to offer for everyone. Why not walk through the Peak District in England's first national park? It has spectacular scenery and cosy pubs across its 500 miles of beauty. There is also a rich cultural heritage across the area, starting with Chatsworth House where Pride and Prejudice was recently filmed. There are also many lively and friendly towns to visit across the region, from Matlock to Derby, where you can shop to your hearts delight in the high street shops, farmers markets or craft fairs.
Matlock / Warren Carr area
The Hayloft is situated about half way between Matlock and Bakewell, a little off the beaten track but not isolated and is an ideal base for walking holidays and exploring the dales and peaks of beautiful Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park.
Matlock and Matlock Bath sit on the edge of the Peak District on the banks of the River Derwent, and are former spa towns. There is plenty to see with the former spa now used as council offices for the surrounding area and Riber Castle high on a hill was built by Smedley who introduced the spa to Matlock. There are numerous shops and good transport links to other areas of interest. Bakewell is a lovely old market town full of interesting shops, restaurants and cafes. The beautiful historic houses of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are only 10 minutes away from The Hayloft and Kedleston is 30 minutes. Numerous villages have Well Dressings during the summer and there is Carsington Water just 20 minutes away and the sensational dams of Derwent Water and Ladybower Reservoir only 40 minutes away. Just a mile away you will find Peak Rail with its old steam trains and Red House Stables where you can ride in a carriage and four. There are also the Tissington and Monsal Trails where you can walk and ride your own bike or hire one for the day.
