The historic Jovial Dutchman ex-pub is ideally located in the heart of a small village with good facilities, yet you may walk from the door into some breath-taking countryside. The village is high on a hill and has several good pubs, a baker, grocers, butcher, post office, chemist, two cafes, a chip shop and an Indian restaurant. The property is centrally located, but is spacious and boasts a large enclosed sheltered garden and a separate car park.

6 bedrooms, 6 WC's and 5 bath/shower rooms with continual hot water, plus a child-safe sauna and separate hot-tub room make this property well appointed. The dining room comfortably seats all, whilst the breakfast bar in the marble topped kitchen allows for more informal breaks.

Laundry facilities, a boot and cloak room and a big butler's sink means all the mud collected whilst playing in the Peaks is easily dealt with.

The living room is furnished with leather Chesterfields, flat screened TV with Sky Sports, Sky Movies and DVD library; a wood-burning stove to provide a relaxing atmosphere whilst the Games Room is well equipped with a pool/ table tennis table for the more competitive. It also has a DVD/TV player.

The Jovial Dutchman is located in the Conservation heart of the Derbyshire village of Crich. Formerly a Pub, it was completely renovated during 2009 and improved again in 2014. It is now available to rent for families and groups of up to 14 (plus babies). The accommodation is laid out on two floors, a floor plan is included on the website.

Ground Floor - Fully equipped modern kitchen. It has granite work surfaces, a boiling water tap which provides constant boiling water, a large fridge/ freezer with ice and chilled water, microwave, two double ovens, a dishwasher and breakfast bar.

The dining room is fully equipped to seat 14 it has a picture window which looks over the top of the village. Also available are two high chairs which are kept in the 'front door' store.

Living Room - The living room is furnished in a modern style with leather surround Chesterfield sofas. It has a 46 inch flat screen TV (see Technology Section). The fireplace has a wood burning stove.

Games Room - The Games room is lined with bench seating and can therefore accommodate the entire party. It is equipped with a Pool table (which can be covered to make a table tennis table/ jigsaw surface) and a small flat screened TV (see Technology section). In addition there is a store of games including, jigsaws, bagatelle, cludeo, playing cards etc.

Hot Tub - A large 7 person hot tub in its own dedicated green oak extension with views over the garden and windows that fold open concertina style to make it open to the elements, all new for 2014. This room has a stable door system so small children can be restricted from access and is accessible from the building (i.e. you do not have to walk outside to get to Hot-Tub).

Sauna - The sauna room is located on the Ground floor near the hot-tub and fully disabled accessible bathroom and shower room. For safety the sauna is heated by infra-red radiation and therefore does not require either hot coals, or water bucket, so is child friendly. The Sauna will hold five adults comfortably.

Disabled friendly - we have fitted the downstairs bedroom disabled accessible WC and shower room with a mind to wheelchair access. These facilities were finished in May 2014.

Practicalities

The house has a coat/boot room with Butler's sink radiator, washing machine and tumble dryer. The house benefits from a newly installed gas central heating system. The combi boiler provides unlimited hot water. There are six WC's; one toilet in the ground floor bathroom, one up a couple of stairs, one in the main bathroom and three in the first floor en-suits.

Technology - The property has two flat screened TVs; one in the Games Room (22") and one in the Living Room (46"). The living room also has a blue-ray/DVD player with ample DVD library, and sky TV channels including sport and movies. The Dining Room has an iPod docking station. The kitchen has a digital radio.

First Floor - There are five bedrooms on the first floor; three of these have en-suite shower rooms. There is also a travel cots avaliable.

1. Green Room: Double en-suite master bedroom, king sized double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, restored fire-place, en-suite shower room including electric shower, sink, heated towel rail and WC, and has ample room for a cot.

2. Yellow Room: Includes, Twin beds zipped together to make extra large King, wardrobe, chest of drawers, restored fire-place and has ample room for a cot.

3. Blue Room: Two single beds and one full-sized bunk bed. The bunk bed is suitable for adults or children. The room has a restored fire-place. Storage for clothes etc is available in two bedside cabinets and 1 wardrobe, together with large “trundle” drawers under each bed.The room has space for a cot.

4. Double En suite Room: King-sized bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and window seat, with en-suite shower room including sink, heated towel rail and toilet.

5. Twin En suite Room: Two single beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers and window seat, with en-suite shower room including sink, heated towel rail and toilet.

6. Downstairs bedroom: King-sized bed, wardrobe and side tables. This room has a sliding door for ease of access. A large shower room with heated towel rail, full height mirror, adapted sink and WC is nearby that is also accessible to wheelchairs.

All the bedrooms have curtains with black-out material and also roller blinds on some.

Family Bathroom: The family bathroom has a bath, separate electric shower (just in case of gas were to be cut off!), two hand basins with lit mirrors, a toilet, two heated towel rails and a heated airing cupboard.

The property has a 1,000 square metre fully enclosed garden and large car park, plus a smaller gated car park. The garden is mostly laid to lawn with planted borders and has a large patio, including a fire-pit and separate barbeque area. In addition, the property has a separate locking outbuilding which is available for storage of equipment (eg bikes) for guests on request.

The Garden includes the basement outbuilding 'den' - adults not allowed (small table and chairs with own light - an ideal 'rainy day' place to play), with its own flagstone yard. In addition there is the 'smoke house' rapidly being converted to kids space and the cliff camp with bark underfoot which will clearly need defending - all within the safety of the fenced garden.

Bookings can be from any day for a minimum 3 day stay (4 days in peak period). We aim to offer flexible changeover days where possible. Short or longer breaks are welcomed. Please call or email for availability and prices.

Guests may arrive from 3pm at the start of the holiday and are asked to depart by 10am on the last day. A 25% deposit is required to secure a booking. The balance is to be paid six weeks prior to the start of the holiday. Where a booking is made within less than six weeks to the start of the holiday, the total holiday price is payable in full at the point of booking.

The Heart of England/Peak District

This beautiful retreat is located within 7 miles of the Peak District National Park and within easy reach of; Ashbourne - Dovedale, the Manifold Valley and the Tissington Trail (15 mins), Matlock - Carsington Water, Heights of Abraham and Middleton Top (10 mins), Bakewell - Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and the Bakewell Market on Mondays (25 mins) and Buxton (40 mins) along with the many and varied walks in this area.

There are lots of activities nearby if the weather isn't great for walking such as Gulliver's Kingdom and Temple Mine in and around Matlock Bath, the National Tramway Museum just 600 yards up the hill, Hardwick Hall and Wingfield Manor are just around the corner and Alton Towers is less than an hour away. There is a brand new leisure complex in Sutton-in-Ashfield with gym, indoor swimming and ice skating. This gym and pool complex with some of the best facilities in Derbyshire recently opened and is only 20 minutes drive from the house.

Matlock

Crich is a Derbyshire village situated above the River Derwent on the borders of the Peak District National Park.

With a population of 2,200, Crich is 5 miles from Matlock, and was used as the setting for the fictional village of Cardale in the TV medical drama “Peak Practice”. It is home to the award winning National Tramway Museum, and is famous for the Crich Stand War Memorial to the Sherwood Foresters (now included in the Mercia regiment). On a clear day you can see 8 counties from the Stand.

The village centre is a 2 minute walk from the Jovial Dutchman. Facilities include a well stocked grocery shop, superb butchers, local greengrocers, chemist, the 'Cardale' fish and chip shop, two cafes – the “Loaf” café and delicatessen and the Crich Tearooms – and the . “Cardale” fish & chip shop. There is the recently opened 'Jeera' Indian Restaurant and also a small post office. There are three public houses within the village serving real ale, two of which, The Cliff Inn and The Black Swan, also serve good bar meals. In addition Crich boasts a beauty salon which offers facials, massages, manicures and hairdressing.

Crich is well served by footpaths offering walking in the surrounding countryside from the doorstep.
