Home description
La Vigne is a beautiful very spacious characteristic detached gite that can accommodate between 6 and 10 people. The gite can be split to accommodate a smaller group of people 5 - 6. There are 4 spacious bedrooms - 1 with superking bed (which also has a single bed in it), 1 with king sized bed and the other 2 with single beds. Three of the bedrooms are situated on the first floor along with a bathroom with bath/shower/toilet. On ground floor there is a bedroom with the king sized bed and also another bathroom with luxury shower and a toilet. All of the bedrooms have ample storage. There is also a very spacious lounge complete with open fireplace and enough comfortable seating for 10 people - there is also a television/DVD player (where you can access BBC/ITV channels). The kitchen has a full sized cooker, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and crockery/cutlery - we also provide an iron/ironing board & hairdryer. The gite has 2 entrances - one that opens up into the courtyard where the heated pool is and the other into the main courtyard where you will find garden table & chairs and BBQ for your sole use. We have 2 acres of walled grounds, which is ideal for any families as it provides a safe playing environment. Les Vieilles Ombres is situated in a very tranquil setting to provide a relaxing, peaceful holiday yet there is plenty to do in the area should you wish to.

Charente Maritime is an area known for many things, its gastronomic fayre, the making of Cognac/Pineau, fields and fields of sunflowers, its deep history and the stunning countryside and beaches to name but a few. You can have peace and tranquility or you can have the action of Futurscope in Poitiers approximately one hours drive from Bagnizeau. Bordeaux is a must for its art galleries, restaurants and historic buildings not forgetting the fields of vvines producing the world famous wines.
Matha / Bagnizeau area
Matha is the local market town which is only 5 minutes drive from Bagnizeau. In Matha you will find supermarkets, banks and a variety of other local shops. We are approximately 30 minutes drive from the historic Saintes & Angouleme - both with character, things to do and plenty of shopping. Within 25 minutes you would find yourself in Cognac with its world famous distilleries such as Remy Martin & Hennessey - visit one of the Cognac houses for a tour or you can try the local drink of Pineau at many distilleries throughout the villages or even the local Charentaise wine. There are many golf courses within 30 - 45 minutes drive and fishing is also available - hire a boat on the Charente - horse ride, walk or cycle through the beautiful countryside of sunflowers and vines. Just about an hour away is the Palmyre Zoo at Royan and the Aquarium at La Rochelle - not forgetting the wonderful beaches of the Atlantic Coast

Further details outdoors: The gardens can offer some welcome shade in the height of the summer under the wide variety of trees that we have growing. They are ideal for children to play in due to the wall surrounding the property and the gated courtyards. Les Vieilles Ombres has 2 separate courtyards and entrances to the gites. The heated swimming pool is fenced for safety and has a large sun patio poolside - there is also a changing room with shower & toilet located close to the pool for added convenience. We also have a hangar which is a sheltered area for all to enjoy should it get to warm for you. The hangar has a table tennis table and football table available for use.
