The Zanzibar region
The Islands of Zanzibar are the ideal destination for a fascinating holiday in Africa. The main island, known as the Spice Island, stirs the imagination and conjures up images of magical Arabian nights, the scent of spices and spirit of ages gone by. The white pristine beaches, the rich cultural heritage, the spice farms, the labyrinth of the winding lanes of Stone Town and the joyfulness of the Zanzibari will leave a long lasting impression of a holiday in paradise.
Walking trough the narrow streets in Stone Town will take you back in history and lead you to the City Market where local traders offer fresh fruit, meat and fish every day. Pay a visit to the Old Fort, the House of Wonders (the first house equipped with electricity in East Africa) Livingstone House and the old Slave Market.
Zanzibar is also ideally located for a safari or visit to some of the fabulous parks in Kenya or Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is only a 45 minutes flight away from Zanzibar.
The Matemwe area
This luxury villa is brand new, built in the East African colonial style with an impressive thatch Makuti roof and is fully equipped and serviced. The house is situated in a large tropical garden with palm trees and features a large swimming pool. Plenty of amenities are available for relaxation and sport including a boat for watersports, snorkelling, fishing etc.
The most beautiful beaches of Zanzibar are found on the East coast of the Island at Matemwe, a charming and safe village some 50 km from the capital and airport.
All famous attractions in Zanzibar are within 30 minutes drive from the house. The Spice Farms will overwhelm your senses (Zanzibar became famous as a centre for spice and the Slave Trade some 500 years ago), the palaces built by the Sultans of Oman and Zanzibar, the Jozani Forest, snorkelling and diving, deep sea fishing.
A 45 minutes drive will take you to the historical capital, Stone Town, a Unesco world heritage offering plenty of opportunities for sightseeing or shopping.

We stayed with our parents and teens in this fabulous house post safari. It is a very beautiful and comfortable estate with a wonderful staff that ensures you haven't a thing to do but enjoy it. The location and views are stunning, and really I just can't say enough positive things. We had a fabulous time and recommend it highly! |

Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay at Villa Turquoise this summer. The house is one of the most beautiful on Matemwe beach. It is very large and comfortable. The staff was warm and always attentive to our needs. Perfect! |
Guestbook for Turquoise
" We had a remarkable 10 days at Villa Turquoise. We were three couples accomodated in luxury with room to accomodate more. The location on the Indian Ocean is prime, with long private frontage and miles of beach walking in either direction. The grounds are immaculate, the service superb abd the food wonderful. The offshore snorkeling exceeded anything I have ever seen and that includes many tropical areas in the world. " Ross Davidson, Vernon, BC, Canada
" My wife and I stayed at the villa for our honeymoon, its location overlooking the beach (including the villa's own private beach) and the Indian Ocean is magnificent. Amenities were excellent and the staff courteous and discrete but always available when required. We also decided to go on an inpromptu 2 day safari which was incredible and quickly arranged by the villa's manager with door-to-door service; breakfast was taken early on the beach and by late morning we were in the presence of lions and elephants in the Selous Game Reserve! ... Our stay at the villa was unforgettable abd ensured both my wife and I enjoyed the perfect honeymoon..." Rob Sinclair, Trier, Germany.
"Villa Turquoise is top class, excellent accommodation; comfort and luxury of a five star hotel but full privacy and silence no hotel can offer , this was the break we wanted and needed, we stayed in several hotels and houses in Zanzibar but none compares to your place, we will be back for Christmas" -Peter, Nairobi
"just wanted to let you know we had a fantastic time at your house in Zanzibar, great views, friendly staff, great food (your cook is a masterchef!), we were pampered, thank you very much!" -Linda M, Grahamstown, SA
"...this holiday really exceeded our highest expectations, the house is fantastic and so is the setting, very clean and spacious, your staff was discrete but made us feel at home without having to do anything, we will come back with more friends next year..." Robert V, Cape Town, SA
"...your house manager made a difference, she seems to know everything and everybody on the island, we visited the local school and the house of the head of the village, we went fishing with the local fishermen, our children played football with the local team..." Janice, London.
"We have just had 12 blissful days at Villa Turquoise. The stunning house is in a very unspoilt part of Zanzibar which we loved. We had long walks on the beach every day, even in the rain, and hugely enjoyed talking to the villagers who loved to practice their English with us. The tiny boutique hotels nearby provided us with endless delicious meals. The staff at the villa were warm, welcoming and terribly kind. We simply loved being there. We will be back. NSD"
