Stayed here for a week with two couples and two young children in November. It is quite easy to report on Villa Loiki, it is perfect and much more what we expected it to be. As we all have... more |

Villa Loiki is just amazing. The location is like parade and the house is beautifully appointed with the decor carefully chosen with beautiful African prints and upholstery. When we arrived on New Year's Eve they had Christmas Trees up with fairy lights. The children jumped straight into the lovely swimming pool. It is right on the beach where the water is turquoise blue. There is complete privacy. The food by Juma and Paul was amazing. We had Lobster for New Year's Eve. Everything was so fresh and the flavours with the use of spices was amazing. Every morning there was freshly squeezed juice and freshly baked cakes or bread. There was lots of exotic fruit on the table. We had eggs cooked whatever way we wanted. The food was do good I brought home a cookbook from zanzibar hoping I can recreate it. Amina and the the staff were so lovely and always working away quietly in the background. When you were having breakfast they made up your beds and when you were having dinner in the evening they pulled the mosquito nets, turned on the air conditioning and pulled the curtains. Everything was laid on so professionally. When we landed in from Tanzania, Mr Bhakal picked us up at airport and drove us to the Villa where we were greeted by all the staff with fresh coconuts where the top was sliced off and we drank the milk through a straw. We had a driver during the week who took us to Stone Town and on another day he took us to the Spice Tour. The Spice Tour was fantastic and very interesting. I guess it opened my eyes and spices are no longer just something that comes in a packet. Our driver took us out on the motor boat to snorkel at Mnemba Island. Amazing snorkelling. So many tropical fish and coral reefs. Mianne the manager was tireless to make sure we had everything we needed at all times. Zanzibar is a beautiful Island. We went to Stone Town where we had a lovely meal at the Archipelago restaurant. We strolled the shops and the markets where we bought fresh fruit, and vegetables. Juma got all our fish and meat fresh from local famers and fishermen. Mr Baker took my husband to the wine shop in Stone Town and there he was able to buy all his favourite wines - a Chateau Laffitte, Rustenberg from South Africa, Gigondas from France, Barolo from Italy. We were surprised to see such a fine selection of wines. We were never harassed or bothered in Zanzibar or Tanzania as we expect in some European countries. I can't start to describe how lovely the Zanzibar people are. They are beautiful looking. Tall with high cheek bones and graceful appearance. They are a very dignified people and work hard. I have amazing photos from Zanzibar. I would love to go back! |
