Walk through the magnificent tropical gardens on this expansive 2½ acre cliff top property to your private home with a stunning swimming pool overlooking the sea.

Ucuilagi (meaning from the sea to the heaven) located just a 2 minute walk to the beach is a beautiful and well maintained holiday home. The main house contains 2 double bedrooms (with en suites and air conditioning) lounge, kitchen, swimming pool and a 800 square foot deck over looking the Somosomo Strait.

Ucuilagi is located on Taveuni Island, Fiji, commonly known as the Garden Island of Fiji. The house is located within a 4 minute to the local diver operators.

The onsite property manager can help you with any queries during your stay. A chef can be organised for during your stay should you wish.

The Taveuni Island region

Taveuni Island, commonly known as the “Garden Island of Fiji” is the third largest of the Fijian Islands.

It is located towards the north eastern extent of Fiji.

The majority of Taveuni is covered with indigenous forest with extinct volcanic cones. This gives a rugged and untouched landscape. It is home to indigenous wildlife and plants that are unique to Taveuni such as the Tagimaucia Flower and the endangered Taveuni Parakeets.

The significant amount of water that is required to pass between Taveuni and the mainland between high and low tides result in strong ocean currents that create the perfect conditions for the formation of soft and hard coral reefs. Accordingly, the Rainbow Reef is considered one of the most spectacular diving and snorkelling reefs within the Pacific Islands. Dive sites such as the world famous Great White Wall attract enthusiasts and journalists from all to witness the underworld beauty (see National Geographic November 2004 issue).


Matei area

First and foremost, Taveuni is known for its scuba diving, nature walks and serenity. However it also provides an array of restaurants and local shops ranging from local curry houses to gourmet dining.
Taveuni is well served with regular air services and overnight ferries from the mainland.
The main shopping centre is at Somo Somo with a range of modern to owner operated shopping facilities. This centre is located only 15 minutes by car from Ucuilagi.

•Taveuni Island is also renowned for its fishing. Yellow Fin Tuna, Walu, Mahimahi and many other species are found in the surrounding waters. Fishing charters can be arranged through the onsite manager.

Crossing the international date line and cultural experiences can also be arranged. All activities can be arranged through the property manager during your stay.


How to get there

Access to Taveuni is via flying from Nadi or Suva. There are 2 airlines which have 5-6 services per day. Please enquire about flight details, costs etc as these change due to demand and time of year.
There is also a regular overnight ferry service from Suva to Taveuni which runs 2-3 times per week

Local Fijian hardwood flooring provide a cool and calming interior of the house which is decorated with local crafts and family treasures.

The main house contains two double bedrooms and en-suites. Both rooms have air conditioning. The master bedroom has a magnificent view looking west to north west towards the Somosomo Strait. The second bedroom has views north east. Sleeping configurations can be arranged to suit your needs i.e the secondary bedroom can be altered to contain three single beds.

The kitchen and lounge is also contained within the main house. Gas hobs and gas oven is provided as well as all cooking utensils ranging from food processors, toast sandwich maker through to kettles and toaster etc.

Should you require a cook during your holiday, this can be arranged.

A secondary house is located adjacent to the main house containing 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom. A fridge and kettle is also provided for those guests.

The large and spacious family area flows out to a large and covered deck where most of the entertaining is held.

Further details outdoors:
The house is located on a cliff top overlooking the Somosomo Strait set amongst 2 acres of manicured tropical gardens. The 800 square foot deck which surrounds the front of the house provides 180 degree uninterrupted ocean views which is arguably unchallenged by any other property on the island.

During the evening enjoy a swim in the pool whilst admiring the beautiful sunsets and sipping your cocktail made from the fruits of the garden. The night time tranquility provides magical opportunities for star gazing.

Take a walk through the gardens and taste a freshly picked pineapple, papaya, or mango when in season.

The onsite manager Isoa and his loving family are at hand to help you during your stay. They are on call to ensure guests have a most enjoyable holiday.
He can arrange all activities, including bush and waterfall walks, diving, fishing and general shopping.




Further details

A four wheel drive pick up truck is provided during your stay, however the site manager is the only person who may drive the truck. Fuel is not included and will be charged for.
Airport transfers are included in the tariff.
The property manager will be on hand during your stay for any questions or help needed.
