Enquire nowThe Campania region
Campania is an extraordinary mixture of art, culture and nature; a land where ancient and modern fuse together in a grandiose spectacle which has lasted for thousands of years.
CLIMATE: A typical Mediterranean climate; hot, dry and sunny in Summer and although cooler in the winter, it still has lots of bright and sunny days and several hours of sunshine a day.
POSITION: Campania is on the south west coast of Italy on the Mediterranean sea, about 2 hours south of Rome.
PLACES OF INTEREST: Naples is one of Italy's most vibrant Italian cities. “Bella Napoli”, where the pizza Margherita was born, is renowned for the character of its people who say “see Naples and then die”. Admire the impressive panorama and the former Royal family palace in Piazza Plebicito. You can wander through the famous 'spaccanapoli', with its church of Santa Chiara.
LOCAL SPECIALITIES: The region is famous for its hand-crafted inlaid wood furniture, music boxes and artefacts. Also hand-made leather shoes, jewellery and ceramics are very popular.
CUISINE: Italy is most famous for its pizza and it is impossible to visit Camapania without eating a pizza, after all pizza was invented and transformed in Naples! Pizza are cooked in bread ovens and are fed firewood to reach a high temperature which cooks the pizza quickly and perfectly, with the oven enhancing its flavour.
Seafood is served fresh in most restaurants or can be bought from the local markets and fish shops. Arguably some of the best wines come from Italian grapes. In Italy you can enjoy your favourite Italian wines for much less than you would pay elsewhere.
The Massa Lubrense / Acquara area
Massa Lubrense has many beautiful marinas including Puolo Marina celebrated by the Latin poet Stazio for its beauty. This bathing beach still has visible traces of its ancient past. Here, among the neat low cottages of the local fishermen, you can still see the columns of temples dedicated to Hercules and Neptune.
Also Lobra Marina, where there was once a temple dedicated to Proserpina, is an ancient characteristic village of fishermen and carpenters of the local ship-building yard. The temple was changed into a Catholic church during the Middle Ages.
The Cantone Marina has the picturesque Nerano beach which is loved by tourists and sunbathers. For thousands of years it has been telling immortal and beautiful tales, such as the story of Ulysses and the Sirens, who lived here according to legend. The stunning Bay of Ieranto Nature Area is one of the 20 Italian Marine Parks which can be reached either by boat or by a path leading from the centre of Nerano.
Both Sorrento and Amalfi are near by and are ideal places for shopping. From the sea front to the narrow streets, there is an abundance of souvenir shops, small distilleries producing limoncello and other typical liqueurs, as well as thousands of objects made by local craftsmen, from the Vietri ceramics to the unique coral jewellery.

The house was difficult to get to, but once there we didn´t want to leave. Views where extraordinary, specially from the large sitting room and terrace. The house was very comfortable for a family of 14 (ages from 10 to 70), with possible activities within the house for all, table tennis, pool table, practice italian cooking or just reading. We went in December and the house was very cold the first day, but from the second day onwards it was fine. Spending there New Year´s eve was very special since the house is at the top of the hill and we could see fireworks from Capri, Naples and all over the little villages on the hill. Despite being in such a nice place we did trips every day to the several places that have to be visited in the area. It takes 1 hour to get to Naples, or 2 hours to Paestum (the longest trip we did) but every visit was worth it. We had problems at the moment of paying, with extra charges, but happily everything was sorted out and Naples villas understood that they could not charge for things that we had not been informed before. Basic cleaning every day for the house was included and there is a man in charge of the house who is there all day in case you need anything. Both things make house very clean and safe. |
