The Gran Canaria region
Gran Canaria is one of the larger islands of the Islas Canarias, just off the Northeast coast of Africa. Apart from the beautiful weather, the island offers lots of culture and stunning natural landscapes. The capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria provides the ideal setting for an enjoyable city break and offers a variety of museums, festivals, parks and squares.
There are natural reserve parks on the island which include Rural Park of Nublo, Doramas's Jungle, the Ravine of Azuaje, Tamadaba and Pino Santo
In Tarajalillo there is an Aeroclub where you can fly over the island and admire the sights.
There are many breathtaking beaches and mountains. These include our resident Maspalomas dunes, La Aldea beach and the freestanding Roque Nublo.
Another popular tourist attraction is the fishing village of Arguineguín in the Mogán region. It has a market on Tuesdays.
Maspalomas area
This is the highest point of all the islands, totally private and exclusive. There are two impressive 18-hole golf courses and SPA Hotel, which offers spectacular views, several swimming pools, a gym, a gourmet restaurant and a diverse range of activities for virtually any kind of person.
It is only a seven minute drive to the Maspalomas Beaches, with their famous fine-sand dunes and kilometre after kilometre of soft beach.
The local area offers a wide range of facilities to either relax or play.
How to get there
Monarch Airlines, Thomsonfly, FlyThomasCook, British Airways and XL Airways offer cheap flights from the UK and Europe to Gran Canaria.
Acciona Trasmediterranea sails from Cádiz in Spain to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Acciona also have ferries that interconnect with the other Canary Islands.
Car hire is available at the three major Airports of Gran Canaria. Europcar and Car Hire 3000 are the most prominent companies.
