About the home

Park Street is one of the small roads leading from the market place with rows of finely built terraced cottages. Craigendale Cottage is one such, stone built, end cottage, adjacent to one of the narrow wynds, and externally mirroring Clipstone Cottage next door, now lovingly restored with the retention of many original features.

Entry at the front is to a well equipped, shaker style kitchen with ample room for family dining. Through the kitchen is a cosy lounge with exposed ceiling joists and an original dressed stone fireplace with flagged hearth and 'living flame' stove. A rear door from the lounge leads out to the patio garden. A stairway rises between the lounge and kitchen to a small stepped landing serving a double bedroom, twin bedroom and tiled bathroom with bath, sprinkler shower, washbasin and toilet. Both bedrooms have exposed beams and the double room still retains the original Victorian fireplace and surround.

Behind the cottage is a gravelled patio garden with informal flower pots and tubs to provide a private space to sit and relax. The adjacent wynd, leading to Park Street, can be reached from the garden.

The cottage, lovingly restored retaining many original features with the addition of modern appliances and lighting systems. The use of strong colour contrasts in soft furnishings and fittings set against warm pastel backgrounds and dressed with stylish modern period furniture bring real warmth and life to this cosy cottage.

The Masham area

One such settlement is the small market town of Masham, a 'Gateway to The Dales'. Now most famous for the Theakston's and Black Sheep breweries, both owned by the Theakston family who first started brewing in 1827 and warmly welcome visitors to watch them ply their crafts and sample the rewards of their labour. Pretty riverside walks with parkland and playing fields on the doorstep, the nearby stately grounds of Swinton Castle with its delicious restaurant, the fun-park at Lightwater Valley and the not so distant attractions of Ripon, Harrogate and York offer enjoyment and excitement for all.
