Home description

The house originally dating from the eighteenth century lies in the heart of the old town just two minutes walk from the Chiesa di San martino. The house is on two floors with a double bedroom, kitchen, lounge, bathroom and roof terrace. All the rooms have traditional high domed ceilings and white washed walls. The house has central heating and is very cool in the summer due to the traditional thick stone walls.

The Puglia/Molise region

Martina Franca in Puglia is set in the Valle d'Itria midway between the Ionian sea and the Adriatic and just 22km from the coast. Puglia is an Italian region largely untouched by mass tourism and a place to experience the 'real' Italy. The countryside contains flat valleys with beautiful hill top towns and villages. Martina is located just 15km from Alborobello the centre of the traditional Trulli houses. Castellana Grotte a large cave system is 30km away and Lecce, Taranto and the coast are all within easy reach.

Martina Franca area

The old town of Martina has stunning examples of Baroque architecture set in narrow winding whitewashed streets. In the town itself there is plenty to see and do including the Palazzo Ducale dating from 1668 and the Chiesa di San Martino. On a Wednesday morning each week there is a large market. There are numerous bars and restaurants unspoilt by tourists. The Martina festival is held every year in the month of July.

How to get there

Fly with Ryan Air from London Stansted to Bari or Brindisi airports. Both airports are 1 hour from Martina Franca. Car hire available when booking a Ryan Air flight.

Airport pick ups available on request for 50 Euros each way. Alternatively take the airport bus from Bari airport to Bari train station and then the FSE railway direct to Martina Franca or a train to Fasano and a pick up can be arranged.

The house is a two minute walk from the centre of the old town with its stunning examples of Baroque architecture. The historic town centre has narrow winding streets with traditional whitewashed stone houses. On street parking is available on the Via Mercadante a two minute walk from the house.

Cots and high chairs available on request. Please note that since the photos have been taken metal banisters have been installed on the stairs.Please also note that the sofa bed is only suitable for a child/children to sleep on.

An additional charge of 30 Euros is payable for parties of 3 persons. A small discount for re- bookings is available on request.
