The Puglia/Molise region
Puglia is the southeasternmost region of Italy corresponding to the heel of the boot. Its cliemate is fully Mediterranean with cool winters beautyful springs and autumns and hot and dry summers. Agriculture is one of the main activities with almost all the land being cultivated with beautiful olive trees, vineyards vegetables and wheat. The very long coastal line (500 miles) and the beautiful ancient sea towns make the region perfect for summer vacations. However the rich and unspoilt countryside, the many medieval towns with their narrow whitewashed streets, romanic churches and ancient culture make it a great year-around destination. Apulian food earthy, healthy and tasty with the use of seafood, vegetables and extra virgin olive oil make it one more reason to visit this region that gives a taste of true southern Italy.
Martina Franca area
The area between Cisternino, Locorotondo and Martina Franca is the heart of the famed Valle d'Itria, home of the Trulli district. Valle d'Itria is a beautiful and green highplain at around 400 meters of altitude spotted with Trulli countryhouses, vineyards and olive trees. At the corners of a virtual triangle at a distance of 7-8 miles from each other lay three beautifully whitewashed, ancient and unspotted towns of Cisternino, Locorotondo and Martina Franca, each one with its own character and style. The narrow streets of their centres bring you back in time while the numerous "feste padronali" or country holy feasts let you experience real country life and warmth. Nearby easy going beachlife on the beaches of Torre Canne is recreating during the day while at nighttime tipycal restaurants, concerts, trendy bars and discoes keep, if wanted, busy your night.
