Ideal for relaxing,painting,reading, or as a base to explore this historic and unique part of Italy. Visit the Unesco town of Alberobello with its hundreds of trullis dating back up to 900 years. Or visit Martina Franca the baroque town known as the city of festivals. Sample the local food (all organic) and try the very cheap local wines. This is an ideal part of the world to just relax and enjoy, or as a base to tour and visit local places of interest.

The Puglia/Molise region
Puglia sometimes known as Italys breadbasket boasts excellent olive oil,red & white wines&traditional food.Puglia is mainly known for the enchanting and unique trulli. The area is mainly olive groves and vineyards, with some farming. The lifestyle is very relaxed, the emphasis being on "living a good life" rather than the pursiut of money. The climate is generally very warm, with 300 days a year sunshine. in the hieght of the summer it can reach 40°C so a trip to the Adriatic coast for a dip in the crystal clear waters are welcome. Evenings are very "balmy" and warm but sometimes the drop in temperature from day to evening makes it feel cool.
Martina Franca area
Martina Franca is a short drive away with it's stunning old town(centro historico).Then there is the beautiful Trulli City of Alberobello,steeped in history and a major tourist attraction.Taranto is about half an hours drive away with many historical buildings, shopping centres and seafood restaurants. The coastal town of Fasano has "Zoosafari" a safari park and funfair , a good day out for all the family (prices are about £9 per person). All the local towns have a "market day" with stalls selling clothing , shoes etc at very reasonable prices.

Ryan air from London Stansted to Bari or Brindisi.....car hire on Ryanair site or at the many car hire desks at both airports. Fly direct to Rome , Naples or Milan and get an internal flight with Alpieagles, or Bluexpress, or Volair Check out Holiday genie .com to get the cheapest flight from your nearest airport. Car hire is essential---Hertz offer good deals, but go through the ryanair site link for the best deals.
