About this location
The Zilina Region
The Malá Fatra Mts. is one of the most valuable mountain ranges of Slovakia in terms of landscape. It spreads in the north-west of Slovakia and it is full of tourists in every season of the year.
Klak Mt. In summer, it is visited above all by hikers who head to the mountains Velký Fatranský Kriván (1 709 m) or Velký Rozsutec (1 610 m). The tallest top of the southern part of the Malá Fatra is the mountain Klak (1 352 m), allegedly with the best views in the country.
The Malá Fatra Mts. is criss-crossed by hiking trails in total length of more than 400 km. There are also many springs and water falls, the highest of them is the 38 m tall Šútovský vodopád.
Thanks to its position the city offers excellent opportunities for sports and recreation. In the summer season there are good conditions for water sports at the newly reconstructed swimming pool as well as an open water area on the border of Vrútky and Lipovec. Hiking paths lead from Vrútky to Mincol, with a continuation to Martinské hole, or the Castle of Strecno.
Another tourist route leads to Klacianska Magura with a possibility to reach Panošiná, or to get on the route to Malý Fatranský Kriván and Velký Fatranský Kriván as far as Šútovský waterfall. Cycle-tourism is supported by interesting cycle-routes from Vrútky through the villages at the foot of the Malá Fatra natural park with the possibility to go on to Orava and Liptov

"Surpassed our expectations"
We travelled in a large group, 23 persons - 9 adults and 14 nephews and nieces - from the ages 84 to 8. My mother gave a family reunion at the occassion of her eightyfourth birthday on New Years eve. At our reunions we organise a lot of activities and games, but we also go out and see as much of the surroundings as possible. The big age difference makes it a challenge to find a suitable place for our family reunions. We needed a quiet place for some of the elderly family members, a room where we can meet, a swimming pool for the youngsters and sporting and cultural activities in the surroundings for day trips.
It would be an understatement to simply confirm that the Three Chalets offered all of this. Despite the extensive description and 360° videos it surpassed our expectations.
Let's start with the KARAOKE ROOM. I expected a standard clubhall (if this english?) where a football club would meet for example. Instead it was a cosy large room that easily fitted all of us, decorated like a family room with in the walls a series of framed drawings of old sports and the very sporting equipment above it. In the corner a comfortable chesterfield couch offered a relaxed seating space. As we wanted to show the daily agenda and films made of our activities we took a beamer with us. That was unnecessary as there already was a beamer, hooked up to the Karaoke equipment. It worked perfectly! The other unexpected equipment was the espressomachine. This was the first time ever that we found an espressomachine rather than the usual filtercoffee machine!
The next perfect discovery was the WELLNESS. It was not just an indoor pool with some exercise machines in the corner. It was an extremely complete wellness center with a separate gym with among others a crosstrainer, hometrainer, stepper and massage table. There were separate dressing rooms for men and women, each with two showers. In the passage to the pool there is a further possibility to change clothing. In a corner there were a Finnish sauna and a steam room, again with its own shower. Finally on one side of the pool there was a jacuzzi, that unfortunately did not work - for which Helena gave us a discount!. One might expect the pool to be smallish considering all the other facilities in the wellness, but that was not the case. One of us did her usual laps almost every day. There also is a balcony around most of the wellness. We did not use it as it was too cold to sit outside.
The three CHALETS were perfect also. One was taken by the youngest family, one by the youngsters and one by the oldest of age. In this way we all found what we needed. Some of us wanted to read and rest calmly, others wanted to share their stories until late at night. This was all possible without disturbing each other. The beds were comfortable and having two bathrooms per chalet was another feature that made our stay so pleasant. The two couches in the sitting room were comfortable, some of us stayed there almost all day reading books.
Then there was Helena. As I booked the place I was in contact with her regularly. This was our first family reunion far away from the Netherlands our native country. Until now our reunions were held in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Close enough to check out the place before renting it. The other complication is that our family keeps on extending, it is difficult to find a place that fits all tastes but remains affordable. So, I was quite nervous. But Helena patiently answered all my questions quickly, she even contacted me months ahead of our stay to inquire whether we understood that the wellness did not have slides for the children. One of the previous guests had seen pictures of one of the big thermal spas in the neighbourhood and was surprised not to see the same tenth of meters high coloured slides in the wellness of Helena. One of the crucial extras she organised on behalf of us were the dinners in the close by restaurant Piatrova. This saved us to have to cook dinner for 23 persons and do the dishes afterwards! The dinners were good and very well presented. The host spoke good german and was very pleasant. We can recommend this set-up to anyone wanting to avoid cooking dinners! In addition Helena organised a pig roast for us for my mothers birthday (and New Years eve), a fust of beer and a horse ride. We had been looking forward to a husky ride and cross country skiing from the huts, but when we arrive all snow had melted. There only was snow left on the skislopes. So, no huskies and no cross country skiing. But instead we hiked a lot which would not have been possible if there would have been snow.
The day before we left Helena came to make up the bill, again there were no problems or disagreements. If you would ask me, with all the experiences we have in organising big family events, Helena is the best host we ever had!
