The Midi-Pyrénées region
We are blessed with bright blue skies for most of the year and experience long hot summers. Spring and autumn are both usually mild, thus ensuring a very pleasurable stay whichever time of year you decide to come and visit us.
Les Fontaines is ideally situated to visit Saint Antonin Noble Val and it's wonderful Sunday morning market, St. Cirq Lapopie (voted most beautiful village in France in 2012), Figeac, now listed amongst the Grand Sites of the Midi Pyrenees, Belcastel and Najac. Slightly further afield are the stunning cathedral city of Albi, the beautiful hilltop town of Cordes sur Ciel, Conques, a World Heritage Site, and the amazing medieval town of Rocamadour. The worlds' highest bridge at Millau, is approx. 1.5 hrs. drive.
Our local village of Martiel is just 10 mins. walk away. There is an "alimentation" (corner shop) , where you can purchase your essentials, a Boulangerie, Post Office, hairdressers, church and a tennis court.
The bastide town of Villefranche is only 10 mins. drive away and there you will find large supermarkets, an abundance of excellent restaurants and bars, shops, doctors, dentists, hospital etc., etc.
Throughout the summer there are fetes in every local village and the local markets are well worth a visit (Villefranche and St. Antonin Noble Val are particularly good ones). There are excellent restaurants within a few kilometers offering superb local cuisine and wines. The set "menus" are superb value for money, especially at lunchtime.
The immense Lac de Bannac is less than 3 kilometers away. With facilities for fishing, birdwatching on the nature reserve, acrobranche, pedaloes, crazy golf, snack bar/restaurant, plus picnic areas and entertainment room for themed music evenings throughout the summer , its the ideal place to spend an enjoyable day and/or evening.

"What a beautiful place"
My husband and I returned well rested and happy after spending a wonderful week with our 2 boys at Les Fontaines cottage. It is small and quaint, spotlessly clean with all mod cons required for a self-catering cottage. Definitely felt like a home from home with the addition of a beautiful swimming pool !! The boys spent a couple of hours each evening in the pool while we totally chilled out relaxing on the sun loungers. The owners Andrea and Steve were so friendly and couldn't have been more helpful with their advice for days outs with the boys and directions to the nearest shops and markets. An excellent holiday and many happy memories.

"This is the place"
If you want a quiet holiday in north Midi-Pyrenees, this is the place to come! We stayed on a B & B basis, but enjoyed it so much we intend returning next year to stay in the cottage. Les Fontaines is a 2-hour, but easy, drive NE from Toulouse. We were welcomed to their lovely house by Andrea and Steve , who throughout our stay could not have been more friendly and helpful. The room was delightful, spotlessly clean, and the breakfast excellent. We borrowed the bikes and toured the quiet local lanes through lush farming country most mornings and lazed by the lovely good-sized secluded pool in the afternoon. For meals there is no restaurant particularly near and you do have to drive. Andrea was very helpful in suggesting where to go. All in all a very positive experience.

"just as good second time around"
This was our second time of visiting Les Fontaines and we again had a superb holiday.Andrea and Steve welcomed us with a blazing log fire as the weather was cool but it soon warmed up and we made good use of the beautiful pool and surrounding area.We revisited some of the sites we saw the previous year as they are outstandingly beautiful and saw quite a few new ones, going as far as Sarlat to the north and Ste-Eulalie d'Olt to the east, both well worth a visit.Aveyron is a lovely area and Les Fontaines is an excellent base and I would highly recommend both.

"A lovely property set in a beautiful area to explore at your leisure."
We were made very welcome by our hosts Steve & Andrea. They made suggestions of the best places to visit & always had time to have a friendly chat. The cottage was delightful with everything you need to self cater if you wish. It was lovely to come back after a hot day and have drinks & a swim in the spotless pool. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'Les Fontaines' & would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful, peaceful area with lots to see & do only a short drive away. Thank you Steve & Andrea.

"We did not really want to tell you"
We were going to keep this gem of a place to ourselves and not let everyone into our secret. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage, could not fault it. Location great for visiting all of the old towns, then back to sit by the pool. Loved it! Fabulous restaurant nearby ask Andrea or Steve who are always eager to help.

"Beautiful property, friendly and helpful hosts, and good location for exploring may wonderful sights in the region."
We stayed at Les Fontaines for a week with our two young children in Late April 2012. The weather was not fantastic whilst we were travelling around which made our sightseeing a little more difficult but the cottage was perfectly set up with a good selection of children's videos and movies, and plenty of boardgames so it was lovely to get cozy by the fire and have some down time in the beautiful accommodation. The kitchen is great, and well set up for all your self catering needs... and our hosts were very helpful and thoughtful, even to the point of providing a lovely drop of Australian Red wine for us on arrival (we are Australian) which was a nice extra thoughtful touch! The cottage and whole farm house is beautifully restored to the highest level and i would highly recommend it as a first choice for anyone wanting to explore the region. There are many sights within a 30 -60 min drive so its in a great location. We visited with ease the lovely medieval towns of St Cirq - Lapopie, St Antonin - Noble - Val, Belcastel (amazing!), and Conques (not sure if that is spelt right??) among many other places and all in all had a great stay! Would love to go back!
