The Midi-Pyrenees region
The Manoir de Foussac is ideally located to visit Rocamadour and the Padirac Chasm. It is the perfect starting point for walks in the numerous tourist sites of the region: Sarlat-la-Caneda and the Lascaux caves in Perigord, Collonges-la-Rouge and the Chateau de Castelnau in Correze, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie in the Lot. In the summer, the numerous cultural festivals allow you to discover them in music: Souillac en Jazz, Africajarc, sacred music in Rocamadour...
The Manoir de Foussac is in the heart of a land of traditions, rich of the South-West gastronomy. The ducks and goose farms sell Foie Gras, duck breast and confit directly from the producer to the consumer. The walnut orchards surrounding the manor produce walnuts that accompany with delight the Cabecou, Rocamadour's goat cheese, to serve with one of the famous wines of Cahors. We can find these regional products on the organic, traditional or nocturnal markets organised in the beautiful market halls of the villages of Quercy and Martel, the city with the 7 towers.
A dairy farm below allows buying in fresh milk at dawn or sunset during milking time.
The Manoir de Foussac is immediately close to Dordogne: the beach of Foussac is 250m away. It offers a laid out site very pleasant for swimming in the river, the perfect place when you want to refresh after enjoying the heated pool of the property. The canoeing base, on the opposite shore, allows to hire small boats to go down the Dordogne up to the water park of Souillac.
Hikes are numerous in the valley and along the paths of Santiago de Compostela. They allow you to enjoy many panoramas, from the river or from the top of the cliffs. The Belvedere de Copeyre, overlooking the Manoir de Foussac, offers a stunning view over the Dordogne and the Causse de Floirac. Very close by are planted numerous walnut orchards of which the culture replaced the one of the vines after the Phylloxera invasion in the early 20th century.
An oxbow lake of the Dordogne, the Couasne de Floirac, owns an ecosystem of a large environmental interest. The observation of this Espace Naturel Sensible (ENS - Sensitive Natural Space) will make the youngest happy as well as the nature lovers.
Nearby, you can practice tennis or play minigolf. For the more sporty people, the Cirque de Floirac is a place favourable to hang gliding and paragliding, where you can have your first time in the air.
To discover the region without walking, children can board on the «Truffadou», the steam train that goes along the cliff.
