Shepherds Hut | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Wellaway Shepherds Hut is a newly built hut, nestled in the midst of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.
Tucked away in its own wildlife garden in the owners grounds, it is rurally situated in the sleepy village of Marston, some 6 miles from the market town of Devizes. It is centrally located to explore many tourist attractions, including the Historic City of Bath, the Ancient Stones of both Avebury and Stonehenge and if you wish to venture slightly further afield it is only an hour to the wonderful New Forest and an hour and a half from the Beautiful South Coast.
The Shepherds Hut has been built to a high standard and stands apart from most other huts due to its completely self-sufficient design. Its highly functional modern layout comprises of a cosy living space with a sofa bed and modern furnishings, a kitchen area with gas hob, grill, fridge and hot water facilities. To complete the hut, one end has been transformed into a washroom, with shower, sink and toilet facilities.
The hut is perfect for anyone wishing to get away from it all and experience the rural idyll that the countryside of Wiltshire can offer.
There is a newly built undercover gas BBQ area and an African themed summerhouse close by to while away the hours and take in the glorious surroundings.
Pets are more than welcome during your stay with us, however there are a family of ducks who live on the pond in the orchard and there are other dogs on site so we do ask that you please keep your dog(s) under control at all times. It is a wonderful place for them to enjoy so we ask for your discretion in allowing them to enjoy the area safely.
The Hut is fully equipped with a portable heater, bed linen, towels, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. Wi-Fi is available on site, although not guaranteed in the Hut. For a complete getaway experience there is no tv. There are several dog friendly pubs within a 5-10 mile radius of the village that serve wonderful food and a local within walking distance.

About this location
The Wiltshire region
Marston is centrally located to explore many tourist attractions, including the Historic City of Bath, the Ancient Stones of both Avebury and Stonehenge and if you wish to venture slightly further afield it is only an hour to the wonderful New Forest and an hour and a half from the Beautiful South Coast.
Situated in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, Devizes is an historic market town with a colourful medieval past. The town enjoys a rich heritage of fine Georgian houses and a 19th century castle built on the site of a Norman stronghold.
Devizes has boasted a castle for a thousand years, although the present building is of a more recent period and is privately owned. During the Middle Ages it was the scene of siege and bloodshed as Queen Matilda fought to keep her English crown.
A fascinating Medieval Trail leaflet chronicles these turbulent events and takes the visitor around the town to points of interest. And don't miss the Wiltshire Heritage Museum, home to outstanding collections tracing the history of Wiltshire over the last 6,000 years.
During the 17th century another mighty confrontation took place at Roundway Down, just outside the town, when Royalist forces soundly defeated Cromwell's troops. Today, colourful re-enactments can be enjoyed during the summer months.
When it comes to shopping and eating out Devizes has retained its individuality and offers enchanting cobbled alleyways with specialist retailers, cafes and traditional pubs. Markets abound, both outdoors in the Market Place (market day is Thursday) and indoors at The Shambles.
Wadworth's celebrated brewery remains in its original town location and their brewer's dray drawn by mighty Shire Horses is a regular and much-loved sight on the streets. The brewery has recently opened a Visitor Centre and tours of the site are also offered.
The Kennet & Avon canal passes through the town and the famous flight of 29 locks are easily accessible on foot.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of events throughout the year, including the Devizes Festival of arts in June, Devizes International Street Festival in late August, Devizes Carnival in early September, the colourful Food and Drink Festival in July and the Christmas Festival featuring a parade of hundreds of lanterns, held on the last Friday of November.
Visitor information is available at a number of locations in the town, including the Kennet & Avon Canal Museum, Wadworth Visitor Centre and Wiltshire Heritage Museum. For More Information on Devizes and it's local attractions, please visit www.visitwiltshire.co.uk

"Disappointing to say the least!!!"
I think the best way to express mine, my wife and my dogs stay at the Shepherds Hut is to simply run through our experiences and observations, all of which brought us to the decision to cut our losses… More
After receiving such positive responses from other guests that have stayed with us, we have been shocked and saddened to receive such a strongly worded and negative review to a 16 hour stay in our hut.
Although not in agreement with many of the points listed in the review, we had already planned time to undertake maintenance work on the hut, which has been exposed to the severe weather extremes that we have witnessed earlier this year.
As stated in other reviews, we try our best to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who stays and always endeavour to resolve any issues that should arise during their stay. It was unfortunate that we were not made aware of these issues prior to the guests leaving, as an alternative arrangement could have been made.

After a stressful few weeks we needed a peaceful retreat where we could escape from the world. Wellaway was the perfect solution with only the sounds of the ducks and cows to break the silence, the sun shining on the veranda and the sweet scent of the apples and pears growing all around us.The Shepherds Hut was warm and comfortable, just like the welcome we received from the owners

"loved this cozy place in a huge garden shared only with the ducks :)"
We loved our stay and found the shepherds hut furnished to a very high standard. It felt very private and the owners are lovely, they more than went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed & yet gave us plenty of room to roam free at our own schedule and pace. This is a cute and outstanding place to visit if you are a garden lover and would like to relax in peace and quiet.
