The Island of Malta region
In Malta, you'll explore 7000 years of history yet live passionately in the present. You'll span the millennia with an astonishing array of things to discover. And wherever you go, the Islands' scenery and architecture provide a spectacular backdrop. The colours are striking, honey-coloured stone against the deepest of Mediterranean blues.
The Maltese Islands have been described as one big open-air museum. What makes them unique is that so much of their past is visible today. Delve into the Islands' mysterious prehistory, retrace the footsteps of St Paul or see where the Knights of St John defended Christendom.
Malta is holidaying as the mood takes you. And with near year-round sun, you can indulge in outdoor living at its best.
In just 48 hours and a kilometre or two, you can try a new sport, laze on an island cruise and tour the most important historic sites, and still have time to join in the nightlife. That’s the real advantage of a stay here.
The Islands offer plenty of specialist holidays for those seeking to learn a new skill, discover history or get fit. If you’re interested in sports, we cater as much for the seasoned enthusiast as the casual first-timer. Malta has wellness and spa facilities at the luxury hotels and club resorts. Sea and land lend themselves to activities from rock-climbing to gentle rambling.
For a tempo and scene change from Malta itself, hop to the sister islands of Gozo and Comino. Here, you'll holiday within a holiday and at the most relaxed of Mediterranean paces.
The Marsascala area
Marsaskala or Wied il-Ghajn as known in Maltese, is a small and picturesque fishing village in the south-eastern region of Malta, situated within a deep inlet. The sea front is a lovely place for a stroll, to gaze at the fishing boats which crowd the bay. Tourists and locals alike may enjoy a pleasant walk on the promenade where most of the bars, restaurants and cafes can be found.
Historical sites such as St.Thomas' Tower and quite a number of rural chapels, as well as natural attractions like the rocky shores near Zonqor Point add character to this growing village which has now reached a population of more than 8,000 inhabitants

We stayed at this apartment for 9 nights, using it as a base from which to visit the island. It was easy to book, and Paul, the owner, was very helpful, arranging the transfer from the airport, and providing a heater as the temperature was quite low at the start of our holiday. The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos on the website. We found it a comfortable place to return to after a busy day's sightseeing. If you are a light sleeper you may want to make sure that you use the inner bedroom with the window onto the courtyard: the other one overlooks the street, and the area comes to life before 6 o'clock in the morning! Other reviews have mentioned the steep hill up from the centre of town; it wasn't a problem for us although some people might find it a bit of a challenge. Marsascala is a pleasant town with plenty of cafes and restaurants. For self catering , fresh fruit and vegetables are sold from vans by the harbour. We used local buses every day; the 7-day ticket is excellent value and you can get to almost all the main tourist attractions quite easily. There are a lot more buses than are shown on the "holiday bus map" which is given out at the bus station in Valetta. We also walked to Marsaxlokk, the fishing village about 4km away, which was an easy and enjoyable stroll. Overall we were very happy with our stay in the apartment and we will hope to book again if we return to Malta in the future. |

I spent a month at Marsascala. The apartment is very clean and well equippped including some English TV and a very good internet connection. The area is clean and quiet and it is just a short stroll to the harbour and bus stop. Marsascala is one of the nicest places on Malta, keeping its identity whilst still providing the visitor with plenty to do. There are many small bar/ cafes at the harbour and some very good restaurants. Thanks Paul for a relaxing stay. |

A great little apartment situated in Marsacala Malta. There is no dedicated parking space but cars can be parked anywhere along the street and we found no problem finding a space. It has two double bedrooms Kitchen/lounge area (with TV)and bathroom with bath and hand held shower unit. All very clean and tidy with all the amenities you would expect at home gas cooker, fridge/freezer, cutlery, china, glasses, bottle opener, cooking utensils, hairdryer, iron, everything, but lacks a microwave oven which would have been useful but not essential. A short walk takes you to a small convenience shop where you can buy most groceries fresh milk bread cereals biscuits crisps sweets etc almost everything you need. Also there are several restuarants and takeaways situated along by the bay just a few minutes walk away from the apartment also here you can catch a bus to Valleta and other areas around. during the day they run every 10mins and takes about 30mins to Valleta they are also very cheap and if you want the main city areas a bus is a better option than a car as parking can be difficult. The only negative we found is that if you are on foot there is a very steep road to climb to reach the apartment (no problem if you are travelling by car) we are in our 60's and managed it OK but if you have mobility issues this could be a problem. but dont be deterred this is a nice little apartment for a small family or two couples and very good value. The owner Paul is very very helpful. he will even arrange to collect you from the airport for just a few euros. I would recommend. |
