The Marrakech region
One of Africa's most stylish cities, Marrakech (the Red City) is very different from the more formulaic streets of Europe but still only 3 ½ hours by plane. From the ancient rose-coloured city walls to the sounds and scents of the souks (markets), Marrakech is a showcase for Morocco’s past and present: the slender spire of the Koutoubia mosque and the courtyards paved with tiles.
Marrakech may be rich in tradition, but the city’s vibrant bar scene gives it a cosmopolitan edge. Its spectacular setting against the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains lingers long in the minds of most, and the famous Djemaa el-Fna square provides an amazing open-air spectacle, where jugglers and storytellers jostle for position with snake charmers, magicians and acrobats.
Visit the coast in Essaouira and enjoy some sunshine at the beach or head inland to the edge of the Sahara Desert spending an unforgettable time under the stars. Gardens figure highly in Marrakech’s tourist hotspots including the vivid colours of Le Jardin Majorelle owned by Yves Saint Laurent. Steeped in tradition, atmosphere and bargains, the craft souks are an unmissable treat. Leading off Djemaa el Fna, these covered markets are an extensive labyrinthine to bargain for carpets, silver, leather, spices, earthenware and baboushes (slippers).

Near the King’s Official Gardens, the apartment is located just off the desirable Mohammed IV Avenue and provides some calm from the hustle and bustle of the Medina and Jeema El Fna whilst still only 10 mins walk away.
Hivernage contains some of the better bars and restaurants with the apartment only 5 mins walk from the famous Le Comptior bar and restaurant as well as a host of others. For a little luxury combined with a central city location this is definitely the area to stay in.
