The Marrakech / Essaouira / Marrakech Region region
Steeped in history, Marrakech is a fantastic place to visit with a unique atmosphere. There are many historic sites to visit, including royal palaces such as the Bahia or the Badi. Soak up the atmosphere at the Place Djemaa el-fna where storytellers and snake charmers or take relaxing walk s around the many gardens includng the Menara or Agdal. For authentic gifts visit the vast souks and enjoy haggling for a bargain. If you would prefer to be accompanied to the souk by a moroccan/english speaking person, this can be arranged (details below with other trip details).
There are golf courses for more active or spa's for those who wish to be pampered. There are many restaurants serving a variety of both national and international cuisine.
The Marrakech City area
Whilst only being a short car ride from the city centre, the area is a great place to relax as it is semi-rural. The area is great starting point for visits to the Ourika Valley, with it's emerald green fields nestled by the river. The Ourika Valley is a great place for trekking or just sitting by the river and eating a tagine.
Further on is the village of Imlil at the foot of Mount Toubkal - the highest peak in North Africa. Along with many other places, visits to this area can be made as a day trip.
We recommend car hire for your stay as there is no public transport or amenities nearby. However, for guests who do not wish to hire a car, we offer a transport service as follows for a maximum of 4 guests:

We have been to Marrakech on several trips, and stayed at a variety of hotels and Riads, both inside the Medina and in the new town, we felt ready to hire a car and find something more interesting. Tigmin Zaraba was exactly that, set in wonderful gardens, with olive and orange trees, a small collection of animals and a large private pool, topped off with dramatic unspoiled views of the Atlas mountains, and it really is in the middle of nowhere! The hosts were helpful and welcoming and ensured our stray was perfect (despite the unusually British April weather). The accommodation was large and airy, with two good sized bedrooms (the double with an en-suite), a good well supplied kitchen and a traditional Moroccan sitting room, no communication with the outside world (no TV, Radio or Internet) made the say an enforced peace, the iPod dock was a welcome addition though, the roof terrace gave a tranquil spot to watch the stars from with a glass of wine. The large French supermarket provided all we needed (just outside Marrakech, directions supplied by the hosts) and nightly trips into the Medina for an evening meal at the Jema El Fna street food sellers was the daily treat and a driving adventure, as was the trips into the Atlas mountains, you get used to the driving after a while. A brilliant holiday, and our best stay in Marrakech yet, the house gave the whole holiday a really traditional feel. I don't want to leave a good review, as I'd hate for this place to get popular and mean we can't go again, because we certainly will, as should you! |
Guestbook for Tigmin Zaraba
We couldn't have asked for a more delightful and welcoming home while experiencing the madness of Marrakech! It was quite an eye opener but an amazing one at that. Any recommendation Said may give are definitely worth a look! Ourika Valley and Essaoiura especially. Don't be afraid to trust in the locals, they are all welcoming and friendly, just agree a price before they show you somewhere. We hope that people get to experience this magical place and enjoy it just as much as we have. Thank you Said and Deana. X Orla and Robert - Chichester, UK. September 2011.
Fantastic holiday. Relaxed as soon as we arrived, felt so welcomed! Been places and seen things I never dreamt we would. Morocco and the people so lovely! Thanks Said, best wishes to you, Deana, Amir and baby Zak. We will be back.XX Pat and Paul – Yorkshire, UK. September 2011
Thank you to Said & Deana for an absolutely lovely few days with you at Tigmin Zaraba! We've loved living in your gorgeous pink sand castle and had such a relaxing time after our week of madness in the medina! The beautiful pool has been such a highlight and we've loved soaking up the sun (a bit too hot in this heat!!). Amazed to see a scorpion, huge tortoise hell, toad, preying mantis in addition to the peacocks and bunnies which have reduced our grown up kids to 5 year olds!!. Thank you so much again for sharing your home with us and we wish you all the very best with your imminent new addition!!!! xxxx. Theresa,Brian,Katie, Becky,Luke - London, UK. August 2011.
Our second and definitely not the last holiday in your wonderful house! Thank you for creating this paradise. We wish you all the best with Amir & the new baby and we hope to see you all next time. Moubtadi family. Duisburge, Germany. July 2011.
When we decided we wanted somewhere quiet for our honeymoon we knew just the place! Having been in 2009 we were certain we would get the peace, solitude we were seeking right here. It was perfect. Said is the perfect host, quite literally a mind reader. This won't be our last visit here. We will have to come back to meet the new baby. Thank you to both of you for making our honeymoon unforgettable.xx Alison & Mike Peacock - East Yorkshire. June 2011.
As we love heat, it was very obliging of Said to arrange August weather for our stay !(40c) absolutely loved our stay in this Garden of Eden.
Said is a mine of information and so kind and friendly. We will be back with the bike !!!
Ourika valley definitely worth seeing- eating genuine food by the beautiful river is a must!
Thank you for creating such a wonderful relaxing and unique holiday experience.
Best wishes to you and your family-maybe in your case the baby will bring the stork !!!
We had a fabulous girls holiday in this wonderful retreat. House and gardens exquisite- your hospitality said was second to none- A very big thank you. We hope to return! It's a shame we didn't meet Deana, but good luck with new baby. We're sorry to be leaving. Ellie,Ann,Sue,Clare and Ange. Oxford+Chester 28th May-4th June 2011.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful environment with us. We will definitely be back. Murray family. UK. February 2011.
We have had many holidays in villas around the world, but this tops them all, not only with the location but the owners. The boys had a great time playing hide and seek in the garden. Always a hand with advice and directions. Nothing was too much trouble. This is how a holiday rental should be run!! We wish them and their little boy a happy long life!!! Kay, Andrew, Adam & Finn. UK. December 2010.
Thank you for a lovely holiday. Kind and welcoming from the start. Was the perfect place to relax and escape the real world, shame we have to go home. Loved the animals, will miss Branston and the daily visits from the peacocks. Thanks again Said and Deana, best of luck with everything. Matt & Emma, London. September 2010.
While I stayed at Tigmin Zaraba - I thought - they say that you cannot buy happiness - maybe you can buy pleasure and if you come happy the combination is delightful. Said and Deana Taziny are good hosts - they created the Tigmin Zaraba - a gem of a place - I felt every detail had been taken care of. They are sensitive to respond to what it takes for you to - "land" - settle in - and have a good holiday - day to day . Before I went I read the reviews below. On return - I can confirm they all bring alive a special place. Artic Fox - Scotland. September 2010.
Fabulous oasis. We shall be back. Don’t miss out on the tours. Essaouira was amazing (but be careful about speeding – the police are keen to fine). Marrakech is memorable but needs stamina. Worth leaving early in the morning for the mountain trips to make the most of the scenery. Thanks to Deana and Said for their wonderful home and care they put into everything they do. Peter, Nelida, Cameron, Cordelia and Isadora – UK. August 2010.
Just perfect! The house, gardens, animals (domestic and otherwise) and pool combine to make this a wonderful place to stay, but don’t underestimate the personal touch Said and Deana, you are the perfect hosts, enhancing everything with your friendliness and informative chat. We’ve learned so much more about Moroccan life through you. I’ll be writing up a great review for Tigmin Zaraba on Trip advisor on our return. I hope you really enjoy your “new venture”. Allan, Sandra, Roslyn & Caroline – Edinburgh, Scotland. July 2010.
Do we really have to go home?L. This has been such a fabulous holiday. Of course the experience of Marrakech and it’s wonderful people was always going to be one to remember, but what has truly made this holiday for us has been living at this exquisite house; it’s comfortable throughout. We loved to cook with the spices in the tagine, we had numerous pots of fresh mint tea picked from the garden, grilled fish and steaks on the BBQ and used the wonderful tomatoes in many a dish from the plant in front of the kitchen. It was such a delight to feed the sheep and goats daily, got some wacky pictures to email over! ……Deana & Said deserve all the happiness in the world with their new ventures. They have put a lot of thought into how a holiday retreat should work and got it right first time!! Had some great laughs with Said & Deana. Cool couple! Mary & Chris – Nottingham, UK. June 2010.
Thank you for the perfect holiday! A wonderful place to stay with kids (Younes loved to feed the animals). We hope to come back next year. Mohammed, Miriam, Younes & Elias Moubtadi – Germany. May 2010.
A truly wonderful relaxing holiday in the little pink Kasbah! Very relaxing after the mayhem of Marrakech. Loved the visits from the animals and wildlife. Thank you Said for being a great and informative host. Debby & Dave, Linda & John – UK. April 2010.
Fantastic place and kind hospitality made for a superb week. Thanks to Said for the knowledge and assistance. Hope to be back to check out the Atlas Mountains. JW & BH – UK. March 2010.
We stayed here in March 2010 for 9 days. Booking the place and e-mail correspondance before the trip was without a problem. Deana answered our e-mails within hours and left no question unanswered. To find the house, you have to take some sand road at one point. Getting the google earth coordinates in advance and have a look at what to expect, made the trip from the airport to the house easy.
The house was in a perfect condition. The styleful architecture and interieur design is a beauty. Lack of internet access led to slight withdrawl symptoms for a few days but added to distance from work and helped to relax. The garden with the peacocks, sheep and goats and all the fruit trees, the location outside the smog of Marrakesh and the tranquility made a highly welcomed contrast to the busy city of Marrakesh. Said was always availabe when needed and with his friendliness and attentiveness he was a perfect host. This house is a perfect choice for a stay in Marrakesh - if you are not afraid of driving a car. We were not, but traffic at night in Marrakesh is an adventure, as are some of the "streets", when you go for a trip to Essouira or the Atlas mountains. Be sure that tire damage is included in your insurance when you rent a car, you wont regret it.
To make this sound not too much like an advertisment, here are two things that could have been better: water pressure was a little low sometimes, knifes were not sharp enough. But that's it already with the negligible drawbacks and we want to thank Deana and Said for the nice stay. We can highly recommend this place. C & N Germany March 2010.
This is the perfect place to hide from the real world! Said and Deana could not be more friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back - it is a most special place. Alison, Mike and Ellie. E. Yorkshire - UK. October 2009.
Tigmin Zaraba, one of the wonders of Morocco! Thank you to Deana and Said, so pleasant, knowlegable and nothing was too much trouble. We are pleased to have stayed in such a wonderful Kasbah, a dream come true. Absolutely wonderful, lovely house, gardens and the animals made it really special. James Julie, Lynda and Christine. Lincolnshire – UK. October 2009.
After a very hectic 15 day Explore Worldwide tour, we loved this quiet, little house. It was the get away we needed for some relaxation. We loved the natural wonders and beautiful side views just a few hours drive from here. Thank you so much for answering all our questions and providing endless driving directions. Ellenor and Mike . Vancouver – Canada. September 2009.
The perfect place to stay. We have had a wonderful time staying in our own little pink castle! The Kasbah exuded Moroccan charm and was very comfortable, well equipped and welcoming. Deana and Said couldn’t have been nicer. We took advantage of the offer to be driven – it was a treat in itself with the friendliest and most knowledgeable of guides. Thank you. Clark family - UK. September 2009.
Thank you for a fabulous holiday. Loved the house, wish we lived closer so could come again. Thank you for all your help and information. Connor family-New Zealand - September 2009
