If you’ve never visited a riad before you may not know what to expect. Typically built around an inner courtyard, the architectural style of a riad eliminates noise from the busy streets outside. In Riad Arabia the tranquil tree-filled courtyard features a heated plunge pool with a restful 'bhou' salon seating area. Meals may be taken in the courtyard or on the roof terrace, where guests can dine beneath the sun or stars.

Refurbished in a traditional Moroccan style while ensuring western comfort, Riad Arabia offers en-suite facilities and air-conditioning (heating in winter) in each of its three bedrooms. The ground floor comprises a welcoming hallway, a traditional fully-equipped Moroccan kitchen, an en-suite bedroom (which doubles as a small salon) plus a large salon with a music centre, books, games, TV and DVD player.

The first floor has a surround balcony looking down into the courtyard; a third open-plan 'bhou' salon with open log fire, comfortable easy chairs and sofa seating; and two double en-suite bedrooms. Up a further flight of stairs is another double en-suite bedroom. At the very top of the house is a sunny roof terrace where you can choose to relax in an open caidal tent, sunbathe or enjoy beautiful Marrakech sunsets and views across to Ben Youssef Minerat, Koutoubia and beyond.

Additional services such as personal laundry, massage and hammam sessions can be arranged in the privacy of the riad or locally. On request, a Moroccan-style lunch or dinner can be prepared by Rashida, our cook and housekeeper. A wide range of fully bonded and professionally operated day trips and activities can be pre-booked before travel.

We have a second quality property available for private rental in Marrakech, Riad Africa. We also own and operate the Moroccan Sahara's first luxury tented eco-camp, 'Sahara Safari Camp'. Why not combine 4 or 5 few nights in Riad Arabia with 2 or 3 nights in the southern oases and Sahara or Atlas Mountains? Please contact us for further details and prices of our twin or triple centre holidays in Southern Morocco - all holidays are fully bonded with 100% financial protection.

Riad Arabia has 3 en-suite bedrooms comprising one master suite with walk-in dressing room and 2 double bedrooms (Sal and Derb). All bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning units/heaters plus ceiling fans and are decorated in traditional style with original floor tiles and double-opening arabesque doors.

Riad Arabia's 3 en-suite bathrooms are decorated in tradiitonal style with tadelakt-finished walls, inset copper taps, mirrors, atmospheric local wall lights and hand-crafted wash-basins. All rooms have spacious showers. Water is heated through an electric immersion heater.

The traditional Moroccan-style kitchen of Riad Arabia has been equipped and designed for use by our housekeeper/cook, Rashida. Equipped with a cooker/gas hob, electric oven, Siera tropical fridge/freezer, kettle and plenty of storage space, the kitchen is a functional room.

Living/Dining Rooms

Riad Arabia has 3 contrasting salons/living rooms. The main living/dining room is located on the ground floor next to the kitchen and offers space to dine, relax, watch movies or read. Next to the pool is an open 'bhou' salon with seating and table - ideal of a pre or post dinner aperitif or coffee. On the first floor a third salon offers the cosy warmth of a winter log fire and easy chairs.

There is a choice of dining areas depending on season and guest preference. The most popular spot to enjoy dinner is by the poolside with lunch often taken on the roof terrace.

The Marrakech/Essaouira region

Like Fes, Meknes and Rabat, Marrakech is one of Morocco's famous Imperial Cities. Renowned for its wonderful climate and for a setting as remarkable as it is varied, it is currently one of the world's top travel hotspots. With palaces and palm groves, rose gardens, and a backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas mountains it is the capital of the Moroccan South, a cultural crossroads and keeper of tradition and folklore. The ancient pink-walled medina contains a wealth of rich architectural heritage, and the real highlight - Place Djemaa el Fna - is like no other square in the world!

Founded in 1062 by Almoravids from the Sahara, this Berber city was once the hub of a great empire that stretched from Algiers to Spain. Throughout its near 1000-year history Marrakech has been the capital of Morocco on several occasions under different dynasties, and is today a favoured city of Morocco's young and dynamic King Mohamed VI.

Marrakech City

Riad Arabia is located in a central area of the medina, just a few steps walk from Rue Riad Laarous and the bustling covered souks of Marrakech, through which you can walk to the very heart of the Medina at Place Djemaa el Fna. Others attractions located close by the riad include the Palace/Museum of Dar El Bacha, the Mosque and Medersa of Ben Youssef, and the Museum of Marrakech.

Marrakech is a city for discerning travellers with a keen interest in culture and a couple of days is simply not enough to fully discover the wealth of attractions this city offers. The minaret of Koutoubia Mosque is the landmark and emblem of the city. Other important quarters worth a visit within the old city ramparts include Kasbah and Mellah (the Jewish quarter), both in the south and close to the Royal Palaces (closed to visitors). The Saadien Tombs and Dar Si Said Museum are also of particular interest.

A number of day trips are possible from Marrakech for travellers just spending a few days in the city. Popular options include a day trip to a typical Berber village in the Atlas - Imlil is popular, as is the Ourika Valley. Camel rides are an option, though perhaps best done in the Sahara. Quad bike trips, bicycle hire and a scenic balloon flight are other options. Families may enjoy a visit to Oasiria, a waterpark on the edge of Marrakech with beach, pools, slides and fun for the kids.

A full range of excursions are available through 'Specialist Morocco', our own UK-Moroccan tour operator specialising in private tours and holidays to central and southern Morocco, the Sahara, Atlas and Atlantic Coast.

Specialist Morocco offers a twice-weekly (guaranteed to operate with min. 2 people) scheduled Sahara tour or a choice of tailored 4x4 tours to the Moroccan Sahara's first 'in-style' private tented eco-camp, 'Sahara Safari Camp', and beyond. We also operate a beautiful lodge in the Atlas Mountains - ideal for mountain lovers and walkers. Why not combine a few nights in Riad Arabia with 2 or 3 nights in the southern oases and Sahara?
