The Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region
Marrakech – the name alone sounds exotic and enticing. And rest assured, the ancient Red City at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, hidden behind its 12 kilometre-long, two metre-thick XIIth century red wall, will not disappoint you.
You are transported to a different world and will enjoy ambling through the bustling labyrinth of narrow alleys of the Medina (souk), where you can buy souvenirs, watch craftsmen at work in tiny shops, and soak up the exotic atmosphere. There will be plenty of tourists, of course, but the Medina is not just for tourists as the locals shop here as well.
If you happen to show interest in something, be it traditional medicine, oriental spices, a brass coffee table, a carpet or a tajine dish, the vendor may offer you tea, which you are expected to accept, just as you are expected to bargain for the price of any item; so don’t feel embarrassed – the locals do it too!
Exclusive excursions, day-long buggy trips, paragliding, hot-air balloon trips, original strolls, body care, massages... Reservations for your Golf departures and discounts on your green-fees. We are at your disposal during your entire trip for information and to handle your restaurant and evening reservations...
These can all be arranged from the luxury of you villa in Marrakech

"Relaxing with everything taken care of."
Domain Akhdar is a wonderful oasis of calm. For holiday makers seeking to relax and spend time with young children it is ideal. Our chef, maid, driver and host provided excellent service and nothing was too much trouble. This left us free to enjoy playing and being in the pool with the kids without having to worry about cooking, provisioning and cleaning up. The site has a lovely spa which was great for a massage. The club house was lovely but a bit disappointing in that there wasn't much going on and you couldn't go up there for a drink and an ice cream. We weren't huge fans of the dogs that roamed around the campus unsupervised. However, overall we would definitely recommend the Domain for a relaxing holiday with pool and everything done for you, the villa was beautiful. Anna (6) especially liked the open- top room :). We are planning to go back with a group of friends and their young families.
Thank you for the wonderful review and we are pleased that you would like to come back . The 2 dogs are Akhdar's pets and not strays so are perfectly safe but I am sorry that you felt bothered by them . We look forward to seeing you again in the future .

"A very relaxing, beautiful villa perfect for a family African adventure."
It was such a treat to arrive at the villa, after a longish flight, with the candles light and the beautiful Villa unfolding before us through each door. The children were very excited as were we. Three children (aged 9,6 &4) The transfer was simple and easy with a driver waiting for us at the airport. Took 20 mins to get to the Villa. This holiday offers you everything. We didn't see anyone for two days except for our lovely housemaid (Aziza) and cook. The pool kept the children occupied and the food was truly amazing. Recommend full board. We visited Jeema El Fna a few times day and night. This again was an adventure for the children. It is not intimidating at all. We had the same taxi driver for most of our stay which was organised for us through the club house as and when we needed it. Again the staff ( Hanane) were very helpful. We hired a taxi for the day so we could visit the Fatima Waterfalls. With the young children we only managed 1 of the 7 waterfalls. It's a bit of a slippery scramble in places. Be warned! On our way we had a very short camel ride. 150dir for 6 people for a ten minute ride. They did want more money afterwards however so it did get a little awkward!!! I would highly recommend this Villa ( no. 5 ). It is authentic Morrocan with touches of French design. I loved every piece of furinture in it! Wifi worked in each area of the villa. Take a few dvds for children, card games and books. Also take some pool inflatables etc as the Villa doesnt come with these. It is set in beautiful grounds and feels very secure. The garden and pool were amazing and had attendants in each morning watering the lush garden and servicing the pool. The garden even has its own tortoise which is now sporting a Lego sticker or two!!! We went in July. Top temp was 36 but the week we left it was creeping up to the 40s. We all managed well in this heat. You just structure the day around it a bit. We were also there in Ramadan which again didn't change or alter any plans we had. We bought some alcohol from a large supermarket that serve Europeans only, at this time. Rob, the agent, was incredibly helpful with all of this too. A fun packed, adventurous and relaxing family destination.

"Wonderful house, great service"
Booked this house very last minute, and turned out to be absolutely great. Bueatifully build, nice and wide bedrooms with lovely large garden. We only forgot to request pool heating to be switched on, so next time i would definately do that. The chef and housekeepers were just absolutely gorgeous. The food was just delicious and the few times we did end up eating out, we regretted it (i have 2 small kids so were a bit limited and when to go). But Khadija cooked the most delicious dishes and Hyatt was just so good with the kids too. Very discreet staff that were visible when needed and otherwise very to themselves. Would definately go back.

"A gorgeous, relaxing place to unwind"
The villa is a beautiful traditional style Moroccan villa enclosed within its own red walls on a domaine about 25 minutes outside Marrakech. Through a door in the wall we entered across a little front garden with a fountain playing and past a shady seating area and were welcomed by the charming housekeeper Soumia who showed us around - an imposing central lounge with a terrace leading on to the garden with its own heated swimming pool, and three large bedrooms, all beautifully furnished, and with their own WCs and very grand bathrooms. The villa is incredibly light, with floor to ceiling windows on all sides. We were then treated to mint tea while we waited for our lunch, cooked especially for us by the cook. The food is sumptuous and authentically Moroccan - tagines, cous-cous, Moroccan salads, etc, beautifully prepared and delicately spiced - in huge quantities - and the breakfasts are wonderful. We used the free shuttle to go in to Marrakech and spent a day wandering round the Souks and the Djeema al Fna - the Marrakshis are welcoming and witty, and we had a load of fun. Omar arranged a car to take us shopping and we enjoyed the slightly bizarre delights of a Moroccan cash and carry! We spent two wonderful days, looked after discreetly and well by the staff, and were really sad when we had to leave. We would love to come back, for a longer stay next time.

"As good as it looks!"
Fantastic holiday, villa very clean and well kept. Half board was more than enough for us and we liked the flexibility of mealtimes. One of our party uses a wheelchair and the villa was very suitable - even managed the souks quite easily, but not the shuttlebus. Trip to the Atlas mountains highly recommended with a guide No internet access at the villa but otherwise all positive!
We would like to announce that we now have WIFI internet in the villa now as before it was just in the clubhouse .

"Absolute bliss from start to finish"
From Rob's welcome phone call to the happy but sad goodbyes at the end of our holiday, we have only but praise for Rob and the management company of Domain Akhdar. My husband and I plus our three children (aged 1, 3, and 11) were treated like royalty. We were met at the airport in an air-conditioned vehicle and was driven by the most pleasant man who loved children! Be prepared for the bumpy road that leads to the Villa! We had read about it from other reviews but when you arrive at the dead of night, in a car driven by a man you don't know, the worst scary movies come to mind! We didn't have to worry because at the end of the dark, bumpy and windy road was the Villa. We were welcomed by Fatima who had prepared for us a traditional moroccan meal which lead to a week of many delicious feasts (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners) prepared and made for us in the Villa kitchen. Yummy!!! We booked the all-inclusive option which was plentiful and i would say the food is much better than some of the restaurants I've been to in Marrakech. The Villa is a palace and a perfect place for children. My two boys were in the pool everyday and when the sun was at it's highest, they retreated to the shaded part of the pool for more splash and fun. The bedrooms are large and accommodating with real wooden hangers not the cheap plastic ones!! Well, the bathrooms are just MASSIVE- our family of five could fit in all the bathrooms comfortably. The gardens and pool are cleaned and watered every day - which I have to be honest gave us quite a shock because random men would come into the garden every morning without even a Bonjour! However, don't let this put you off - a quick word in Fatima's ear and they were gone! Excursions are managed by Omar, the Site Manager who greeted us with the most handsome smile and french accent! Yes, ladies..huge smile and french accent!!! He organised our car and the packed lunch for our day trip to Essouaira - packed lunch was another feast! Omar dealt with all our queries, quickly and efficiently. When the generator stopped and there was no electric, he organised candles to be sent to our Villa and Fatima was on hand to reassure that the electric would be back on soon. Sure enough, 30 minutes later, the lights came on and dinner was served, like nothing had happened! Apologies were give from Omar and Fatima which were not needed as you can't come to Africa and not expect something to stop working. We didn't use the free shuttle bus but would encourage people to use if it is their first visit to Marrakech. We have been to Marrakech a few times and therefore spent most of our time in the Villa chilling by the pool listenig to music, eating, drinking, having Spa treatments and just lazing around. The Spa was excellent all the ladies expecially Karima and the Spa owner looked after me to have a relaxing holiday. I must add that I fainted in the Hamman because of the heat and they looked after me so well. I will never forget them- mwah! You may ask are there any negatives, and I can honestly say there are none. If you are looking for a place to call Home for a week or two, to be fed like Kings and to be waited on hand and foot like Royalty, this is the place to come. BIG THANK YOU to Fatima who made us fatter than we are already and cuddled and played with our children so much that they didn't want to leave her and cried when we were leaving. Thank you to Rob for being patient with my last-minute booking and Omar for answering all our questions with that wonderful smile. Thank you to Mehedi who showed us a wonderful time in Essouaira and to the staff at the Spa who made us all feel welcome.

"The most relaxing holiday we have ever been on"
We had 7 of us in our party, so finding somewhere where we could all have a relaxing time together for a week was our priorty. At Domain Ahkdar we had a superb time - more than enough space to relax together - the garden/private pool, courtyard, lounge, en suite bedrooms were all excellent and very spacious. Having Karima & Fatima keeping the villa clean & cooking superb meals (we went half board) was the highlight of each day - their friendly nature and culinary expertise was way about our expectations. While the location is isolated, the on site tennis court, spa & clubhouse were well used by us all and Marrakech was only 25 mins away (we took advantage of the free transport into the city a couple of times). We had a tremendous relaxing time & would thoroughly recommend a week of pure chilling.
