Home description
Banana Valley Villa is a custom built and luxurious architect-designed cottage situated in the rolling hills just outside the picturesque resort town of Marmaris, a historic and undiscovered jewel located in the corner of Turkey where the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas meet. The Villas offer the discerning holidaymaker the perfect place to relax and unwind in a tranquil and beautiful location where privacy and serenity is assured.
Banana Valley Villa has its own large and totally private swimming pools ( 8x5, 1.4m deep) with a wide pool side area with teak furniture and large umbrellas, perfect for sun-lounging in peace or enjoying a drink after dinner. Additionally, the villa has unheated an outdoor jacuzzi. Situated on a side of a valley, the villa offers magnificent views across the pine-clad forest.
Throughout the Villa all furnishings is of the highest quality and where appropriate are made of teak or wrought iron and are handmade by skilled local craftsmen. For example, Hüseyin Usta, the blacksmith we used to make the iron furnishings, is a famous ferre forge artist and craftsman from Mugla, the capital of the province and has received many awards and much praise for his art and craftsmanship. All materials used in the Villa are locally sourced, whether they are hand woven Turkish cotton materials or traditional hand woven kilim carpets made from locally spun wool. The Villa is fully air-conditioned with cold and warm air available to ensure your total comfort.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
Turkeys long peninsula coast lines both the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea.
The answer to the question “where do the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea meet” is Marmaris. It is not just the sea and the nature that attract people to Marmaris from all over the world, nor even the rich history reaching from past civilizations to today. There must be something more. Historian and expert Fernand Braudel in his book named “Mediterranean” says: “What is this Mediterranean? All of a thousand things. Not one landscape, countless landscapes. Not one sea, many seas following each other. Not one civilization, many civilizations piled on each other.”
Marmaris is a place sheltering many of these landscapes, seas and civilizations. The old trade ships are replaced by yachts with colourful sails decorating the modern marinas and by comfortable passenger ships. Airport traffic is heavy. Tens of thousands of people from numerous countries, different nations come for their vacations.
Marmaris / Gokbel area
The most important building in the centre of Marmaris is the castle. The castle was first constructed by Ionians. The preserved form today was built by Ottomans in 1522. During the First World War, it was damaged by cannonball fire opened from a French war ship. A museum in the castle was restored between 1980 and1990. Another Ottoman building in the city is Hafza Sultan Caravanserai built in 1545. Seven small rooms and one big room of the Caravanserai are allocated to gift shops. The historical shops in the market place which used to sell second hand goods are still in the shopping centre of the city.
Marmaris is a large tourism resort with a selection of accommodation starting from small, quaint pensions to big holiday villages and 5-star hotels. Restaurants offer all kinds of cuisine from Chinese, French, Indian and Italian to traditional Turkish cuisine, with many using the blended delicacy of natural herbs grown in the fast changing climate from the Mediterranean shores to the mountains.
The local environment is suitable for any kind of leisure activity, from walks through quiet, secluded forests while the close proximity to the sea means that you can swim, scuba dive, jet-ski, fish, paraglide, yacht and mess about on the water to your heart's content, while for the more energetic we can arrange mountain bike hire; tell us what you want to do and we'll arrange it. The warm sunny climate guarantees sun nearly all the year round and in the summer months any depth of sun tan you require is assured! http://www.marmaris.bel.tr/en/index.php

Guestbook
Jo Ashworth - 2007-11-04 09:22:29 We stayed at Banana Valley back in July 07 for a week. We had a wonderful relaxing time. We’d purposely looked for a private villa for 2 with a pool and some privacy and it lived up to exactly that. The villa was beautifully decorated thorughout and offered privacy even with the other villas close by. The pool and the jacuzzi were wonderful with the banana plant overhanging the jacuzzi, and the views over the mountainside just fantastic. There’s plenty of local wildlife, the squirrel popping down for a drink in the pool, beautiful dragon flies and bats in the evening! We didn’t hire a car, we spent most days relaxing by the pool but we did text / phone the local taxi driver who was very helpful and relied on him / or colleague to take us out and about on most evenings relatively cheaply. Mehmet was always available or would arrange for a friend to help out. We did a big supermarket shop at the start of the week (again by taxi), but the welcome pack was plenty enough to see us through the first day, and had some lovely goodies in there!
Peter, Gail, Samuel & Morgan - 2007-08-19 15:27:16 We have just returned following a wonderful stay at Fig Tree Villa. We spent 2 fantastic weeks with our children, basking in the glorious weather, jumping in and out of the pool. On arrival we found the most fantastic welcome pack I have ever seen that had special treats for the children as well as the adults - thank you Eeva for thinking of us all. Used local mini bus for main transport and a few taxis.
Sally - 2007-06-01 11:33:37 I have just returned with my family from the most wonderful 10 days staying in Fig Tree Villa. These villas are truly amazing and far exceeded my expectations. The images on the website are great but good as they are they still don’t do the place justice!!! The villas are set in the mountains behind Marmaris and the views are stunning, it is the perfect place for a totally relaxing holiday. Eeva and Max are wonderful hosts and have taken the time to ensure your every need is catered for. I would highly recommend the villas (and have done to all my friends and family!) and without a doubt shall be returning!!!
Dave & Deb - 2007-05-25 15:19:19 If you are looking for a quite relaxing holiday in tranquil surroundings with wonderful views then this is the villa for you. We stayed at Banana Villa and with its own private pool and jacuzzi along with first class accommodation you could not want for more.
John Barrett - 2007-01-16 16:15:43 The villas are absolutely beautiful. The peace, and tranquillity that surrounds it, together with the proximity to shops, and Marmaris town centre make it an ideal location. Olive Grove Villa has three bedrooms all with mosquito nets. We didn’t get bitten, or even hear one whilst we were there. The sitting room is spacious combined with the kitchen which has everything one could need. Super ’fridge, lots of crockery and glasses. There is a lovely patio area adjoining the house for al fresco meals. This looks out onto the pool which is a real pool, not a bathtub! The villa has been designed, not just slung together, as a home from home. There is also satellite T.V. We have been going to Turkey for seventeen years, and this is without doubt the best place we have stayed. John
Julia and Pen - 2006-08-09 20:37:07 What a beautiful villa! It is the nicest holiday I think we have had so far, very very relaxing, peaceful, warm. The Villa itself (we stayed in Fig Tree) was amazing. It is large, clean and bright. The kitchen is better equipped then mine in England! The beds and rooms have been designed for your total relaxation. The pool is great too and just what you need to float about in on a hot day. In the evening you can put the pool lights on and sit down for dinner at the outside table. There is a bus or taxi service to the town, which you can get shopping and food etc.
Kipp Butler - 2006-03-13 21:30:07 We stayed at Fig Tree Villa in October, and were amazed by the property. It is secluded, with lovely views stretching down the wooded valley. The villa itself was exactly as described, well fitted-out with all immenities.
Jeremy Beard - 2005-11-20 18:08:16 I stayed there a little over a year ago and couldn’t have wished for a quieter and more relaxing holiday, it was exactly as the text on the website described. As he previous correspondent says it overlooks a wide and forested valley and other than the neighbouring villa there is only a farm house up the road. If you want a get away from it all holiday with guaranteed peace and sunshine then this is for you.
