The apartment is fully equipped with two double bedrooms, fully fitted kitchen, comfortable lounge (with bed settee), bathroom with shower, balconies and a large swimming pool.

The apartment has well maintained gardens and is in a quiet location in the old village of Icmeler. However, it is only a 5 minutes stroll from Icmeler town and the beach.

Icmeler is a vibrant town with a good mix of beach life, night life, Turkish culture and outdoor activities to suit any type of holiday.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Set on the southeast coast of Turkey where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean, the purpose-built beach resort of Icmeler has a distinctly European flavour, with luxury yachts bobbing in the bay and a cosmopolitan crowd of holidaymakers sipping cocktails at the sea-front bars.

It has a scenic setting, with steep hills clad in pine forests plunging into the turquoise waters all around the town. Icmeler has a relaxed village atmosphere, while lacking none of the modern amenities. The resort is scrupulously clean and well maintained, from its regularly raked shingly sand beaches to its litter-free promenade. The town is also resplendent with well-kept gardens and children's parks.

Icmeler benefits from an excellent Mediterranean climate.

Icmeler has a central shopping mall, which is adequate for acquiring essentials and having a pleasant browse for souvenirs. There is a local market on Wednesdays where bargain hunters and hagglers can test their skills.

Serious shoppers, though, would be better advised to take a short dolmus taxi ride or taxi boat into nearby Marmaris where it is possible to literally shop 'til you drop', especially in the fascinating covered bazaar of the old town.

Icmeler is well-supplied with restaurants of all sorts, but most visitors particularly enjoy local specialities like Guvec, a clay-pot casserole, or tasty kebabs, washed down with some Turkish wine or raki, the traditional aniseed spirit. Good choice for Turkish cuisine is the Turkish House in Turunc Road where the food is served up to the tune of traditional music. For good steaks or haute cuisine, a favourite is the Bonjour Hotel. For variety the menu at the Majestic Restaurant is a mix of Chinese, Indian and Italian. On Sundays The Three Bells bar serves up a top British lunch. The Meyzen has an a'la carte menu and traditional music nights ("it's not expensive, it just looks expensive").

In Marmaris, we recommend a sunset meal overlooking the marina at Neighbours Restaurant. This is where the locals eat. Booking is recommended. At lunchtime, head for Allin's and sample their buffet menu.

Icmeler is not a clubbing resort, but there are plenty of bars, which keep hopping with a lively atmosphere until the wee hours. The nightlife may be low key, but those who want something more frenetic have only to grab a dolmus taxi and ride a short distance to Marmaris, where the pace is hotter. Icmeler's only true nightclub, Abone, provides for those who enjoy a dance, and some of the bars have discos, karaoke and live shows.

Our favourite in Marmaris is Back Street Bar in Bar Street, for a cosmopolitan night on the tiles.

The most convenient airport is Dalaman and, since most scheduled flights involve a change of planes at Istanbul, direct charter flights are usually the best option.

Alternatively, why not incorporate a short stay in Istanbul as part of your trip? Easy Jet (www.easyjet.co.uk) fly to Istanbul, and flights to Dalaman or Bodrum are in the region of £30 each way.

The apartment is part of a small complex of 16 duplex apartments conveniently situated between the town and the old village of Icmeler.

The apartment has two double bedrooms. One has a double bed and the other is a twin. Both bedrooms have ample wardrobe space, a dresser and bedside tables. Both bedrooms have air conditioning units available.

The lounge has a double bed settee (suitable for children) and two single armchairs. An air conditioning unit is also available.

The downstairs bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. The upstairs bathroom has a sink and toilet.

The well equipped kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, table and five chairs, gas hob and microwave. A set of sliding doors lead on to the pool side balcony, which has ample space for al-fresco dining with a table and six chairs.



A secure safe is available downstairs, which is large enough to store a laptop. Keys are obtained when you arrive. An iron and ironing board are provided. An outdoor table and sun loungers with covers are provided.

Bath towels (not for the beach), bed sheets and duvet covers are included in the rental cost.

The apartment will be cleaned before your arrival.

Further details outdoors:
The large swimming pool - approx 130 sqm, is shared with the other residents. A pool-side shower and sun loungers are available. Note that the pool is 1.75 metres deep so is not suitable for unsupervised non-swimmers and young children without life jackets.
