The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Selimiye itself is a 10-12 minute walk down the village track, or approx 1km by road.

Bozburun village is 6km away, famous for it's fishing and traditional boat building

Orhaniye village, famous for Kizkumu beach (where you can walk on water!...) is a 15 minute drive

The busy, cosmopolitan resort of Marmaris is a 45 minute drive - if it's time to shop, or time to party then this is the place!

There are the ruins of 2 castles in Selimiye, however there is an amazing archeological site at Knidos (where the Mediterranean meets the Aegean), a 1.5 hour drive away

Marmaris

Enjoy your Selimiye adventure in this unspoilt Turkish fishing village where small, fisherman’s cottages can still be found on the harbour with their white-washed walls and lots of potted plants in discarded, olive oil containers, typically Mediterranean. The village is cradled by two small bays that lead into a larger bay and peninsular with majestic mountains dropping into the sea.

Walking along the harbour you will encounter small restaurants and bars and the occasional shop selling curiosities and the village offers a good selection of restaurants. The delightful, slow pace of life and relaxed atmosphere is ideal for those looking to get away from it all and is perfect for couples and families wishing to experience an authentic taste of Turkish life. You can still see half a dozen or so cottage industry Gulet shipyards building craft as they did hundreds of years ago. Enjoy a day cruise on holidays to Selimiye, sailing along the coast and swim or dive in the clear turquoise waters, or, if you prefer, the surrounding countryside is ideal for walkers and hikers especially in the cooler months.
