Great Bedwyn in an area of out standing natural beauty close to the rolling Marlborough Downs.
The Marlborough / Great Bedwyn area
The Kennet and Avon Canal runs next to Great Bedwyn, the canal tow path is great for walking with Crofton Beam engine, the oldest working beam engin in the world, a 15 minuet walk west from the village.
Savernake forest is a short drive or walk away (for the more energetic!) a great place for walks, picnics or just relaxing, with lots of wild life.
The area has plenty of history such as Avebury Stone Circle, Kennet Long Burrow and the not so ancient Crop Circles, nearest so far was next to Wilton Wind Mill, a working wind mill( mill open Sundays and Bank Holidays, grounds always open) about 2 miles away.
Marlborough has a Jazz Festival every summer which is well worth a visit. The cottage is ideally situated for Marlborough Collage summer school with its many intersting courses.
