About this location
The Lincolnshire region
The Lincolnshire Wolds are an area of outstanding natural beauty and a haven for walkers and cyclists. We are situated on the edge of the Viking Way, an ancient route 147 miles long stretching from the Humber Bridge to Oakham in Leicestershire. There are picturesque villages and landscapes to discover, with friendly country pubs, restaurants and farm shops all within easy reach.
Louth, known as the capital of the Wolds, is 39km away and Grimsby (27km) has an excellent shopping outlet, Freshney Place, with everything all under one roof. The Historic City of Lincoln (30km) has plenty of shops, restaurants, nightlife and tourist attractions including the Cathedral, Lincoln Castle and the annual Christmas Market . For more historic and tourist attractions, York is just an hour away by car, with the National Railway Museum, the largest railway museum in the world and York Dungeons its a great place to take the children for a day out.
Hemswell Antiques Centre is well worth a visit, the former RAF base hosts a cornucopia of antiques, from jewellery to furniture. There is an excellent coffee shop on site and on Sundays a large Car Boot sale. Brigg Garden Centre is 4 miles from us on the way to Brigg, where you can find some excellent gifts as well as all things for the garden and home. Brigg and Market Rasen hold farmers' markets once a month on a Saturday and Tuesday respectively. Market Rasen Racecourse has horseracing events all through the year and for motorsports Cadwell Park Race Circuit is just 33km away, hosting the biggest round of the British Superbike Championship in August. For some great historic and fun days out locally, Normanby Hall, Elsham Hall Country Park, Gainsborough Old Hall and Thorton Abbey, with its impressive medieval gatehouse are all a short scenic drive away. For the children Hall Farm Park, South Kelsey and Fun Forest, Brigg are only a ten minute drive.
