The Gables Retreat
About the home
The Gables Retreat is a newly renovated 5 star farmhouse, which stands in large, mature, enclosed grounds, giving children the freedom to explore and play safely, and consequently the chance for parents to relax. Being blessed with a stunning location and a beautiful building, we have focused our attention on refurbishing the interior of the house to an equally high standard, sympathetically combining old with new, luxury with comfort, to provide a self-catering property that suits all needs, and appeals to all of our guests.
As well as high quality interior fixtures and fittings, we have equipped the house with everything you might need to make your holiday as relaxing and stress free as possible, and to save you having to pack for every eventuality! We have lots to do on site, and also have lots of information on things to do locally should you wish to venture out and explore. By offering many optional holiday extras, such as catering, beauty treatments etc, which we can help you organize or arrange directly for you, we feel we are not just offering a beautiful place to stay, but an all round holiday experience which ticks all the boxes!

Further details indoors:
The Gables Retreat is a large, spacious farmhouse, with lofty ceilings, stripped floors and large windows with open views. It has 5 bedrooms, each individually designed to give a unique look. 1 en suite bedroom is located on the ground floor for guests preferring not to use the stairs. 4 of the bedrooms, including the ground floor bedroom, have optional twin/superking arrangements to give maximum flexibility, and 3 of them have en suite bath/shower rooms. 4 of the bedrooms are large enough to accommodate extra cots or z beds, and we can provide 1 cot, 1 travel cot and 1 high chair on request. The 4 bathrooms have high quality fittings, and all bed linen and towels are provided, as well as robes, slippers and toiletries.
On the ground floor there is a large open plan kitchen/dining room, a TV/play room, a separate sitting room, a cloak room and utility. The kitchen is brand new and excellently equipped with a range-style cooker, 2 fridges, a dishwasher, granite worktops and breakfast bar with 3 bar stools. The oak dining table can seat 12 comfortably and there is plenty of storage space for your holiday essentials. French doors lead off the dining area to give access to the patio, BBQ and hot tub area. The TV/play room is next to the kitchen, so children can relax whilst parents cook and keep an eye on them. The TV/play room has a 40" plasma, a DVD player, a WII console and a Hi Fi system. There are plenty of books, toys, DVDs and magazines for you to enjoy during your stay. There is also a solid fuel wood burner. Across the hall the elegant sitting room has enough seating for the whole group if you all want to be together, and an open fire for cosy nights in. Fire safety guards are provided for both fires as well as stair gates for the top and bottom of the stairs.
The utility room has a washing machine/tumble dryer, a freezer and a sink. Next to the utility there is also a "garden loo", perfect for muddy children or wet hot tub users!
Further details outdoors:
Accessed directly from the dining area of the kitchen, is the patio with a gas BBQ, comfortable outdoor rattan furniture and 7 seat hydrotherapy hot tub, housed under a timber gazebo. This area has uninterrupted views to the west, a truly relaxing spot to watch the sun go down, or gaze at the huge Lincolnshire star-filled night skies.
Just across the garden there is an all weather LTA tennis court for you to use during your stay, as well as balls and 2 raquets. We have an external toy barn, a delight for the little ones eyes, with a variety of outdoor toys and games. We have a croquet set for a game on the front lawn, as well as a badminton/volleyball set.
Further details
We have friendly animals on site, usually a pony and 3 sheep, grazing in the paddock adjacent to the house. Additionally, just a short stroll down the farm lane are the RIvers Ancholme and Rase, which give the opportunity for coarse fishing, a picnic, or just a peaceful countryside walk.
Our gravel car parking area is huge, and offers plenty of space right next to the house, for easy transfer of luggage.
Mobile reception is good for most networks, and there is wireless internet access.
We welcome 2 well behaved dogs by prior arrangement.
We operate a strict no-smoking policy at the property.

Lincolnshire is a beautiful rural county with a hugely diverse range of activites, attractions and ongoing events. Whatever your interest, be it aviation, history, wildlife, antiques, architecture, the coast, walking, golfing, horse racing, great food or anything else, we're sure Lincolnshire has something for everyone. Lincoln's crowning glory is Europe's finest gothic cathedral, and its Castle, built by William The Conqueror, is home to 1 of only 4 surviving copies of the 1215 Magna Carta. The uphill cobbled Bailgate area, with its "Best Street 2012" award winning Steep Hill, gift shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants, offers endless browsing opportunities. As well as Lincoln, Louth, Brigg and Grimsby with its Fishing Heritage Centre are all within a half hour drive and also have lots to offer.
Lincolnshire's 3 traditional blue flag beaches are a joy for family days out and Donna Nook Seal Colony is a must for November/December where you will see hundreds of baby seals. The base of the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds, with its 47 mile long strip of rolling hills and valleys and newly opened 75 mile long circular route, is just 6 miles away from The Gables Retreat. The county is steeped in aviation history, and as well as the Red Arrows, is also home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Please visit our website for more information on local attractions and events.
The Market Rasen / North Owersby area
Market Rasen is our closest town and is 8 miles away. It has a Racecourse with a full programme of regular meets, as well as special events and concerts, and an 18 hole Championship golf course, 1 of over 50 in Lincolnshire. Market Rasen has excellent amenities, including high quality butcher, baker, chemist, doctor, dentist and supermarket. There is an outdoor pursuits centre only 10 minutes away, with high ropes, zip wires, quad bikes and climbing towers.
Rand Farm Park and Hall Farm Park, both family farm based play centres, are 5 minutes and 20 minutes away respectively, and will keep children entertained for the whole day day. Both have cafes and excellent facilities, including indoor and outdoor play activites, animals to feed and stroke and tractor and trailer rides.
There are many routes for keen cyclists and a local riding school 8 miles away offers indoor and outdoor riding facilities. There are many excellent pubs and restaurants, to suit all tastes and budgets.
