"An authentic Tuscan experience"

If your're looking for an 'off the international tourist trail' holiday, this could be the one for you. Marina di Carrara is a small coastal town which seems to attract a great deal of Italian holiday makers. The only other tourists we encountered during our stay were a handful of other Europeans but no British tourists. This provided us with the authenticity we were looking for. Practice your Italian before you go, as very few locals speak English which resulted in a few surprise meals in the local restaurants and one or two very interesting bus journeys. However, Marina di Carrara proved to be an excellent base for visiting nearby Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Viareggio by train and the famous Cinque Terre by boat. For relaxing by the beach days, Marina di Carrara offers pleasant and clean private and public beaches; about 15 minutes walk from the appartment. The appartment itself is part of a very beautiful and grand listed building, which has been refurbished to a very high standard. The owners live in part of the building, speak excellent english, are very friendly and helpful but respected our privacy during our stay. A restaurant well worth a visit is, Ristorante Pizzeria Venezia, situated on the beach front, fabulous food, helpful, friendly staff and wonderful surroundings! All in all an ideal holiday offering a genuine Italian experience.

"excellent central location of comfortable compact appartment"

We enjoyed our 9 day stay here,in this centrally located ,comfortable compact appartment.A short distance to beach and shops and close to bus stops,it also had a supermarket close by.The small front garden was fine for eating out and drying off the small bits of washing and towels.Might have had a few problems if we had wet weather as not a lot of sun.We encountered a problem with lighting the oven and the plug with the bidet but these things were to be rectified.I would have liked a couple more spare pillows and blankets in a cupboard for the odd chilly night but generally we found everything we needed to make it a pleasant holiday. The airport pickup was also worth the money as saved an otherwise struggle with train and bus.
