Home description
Located in the alpine village of Hinterthal, a district of Maria Alm, our apartment forms part of a traditional Austrian chalet style house. We purchased the apartment in summer 2008, and since then have been renovating and redecorating to make it our home away from home.
The apartment has over 120sq/m of living space split between 3 large bedrooms, lounge, kitchen, bathroom with bath & shower, separate W.C and a large hallway to store coats, boots and skis.
*** NEW FOR 2009 - 3RD BEDROOM ADDED! *** A new 3rd separate bedroom (40 sq/m) is now ready for the Winter 09 season which sleeps 4-5. This will be ideal as a separate 'kids' bedroom / playroom for larger family groups. Photos of the room now added below.

The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region
With over 150km of tree lined ski slopes on the doorstep, and access to the even larger Ski-Amade region you won't be stuck for new runs to try and areas to explore. A short drive away are the popular towns of Zell Am See and Kaprun where you have access to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier at 3000m!
The area has an outstanding snow record, with the lifts opening from late November through to April. Still relatively undiscovered by the British, the slopes are quiet and queues non-existent.

*** NEW LIFT & SKI RUNS OPEN IN HINTERTHAL FOR WINTER 2009 *** A new 6 man chair has been installed between Hinterthal and Maria Alm, and a new ski run cut from the top of the Hochmais mountain in Hinterthal. This is all part of the EUR 60 million investment being made in the area, which will provide all new snowmaking facilities with new lifts and runs added each year.
Maria Alm / Hinterthal area
Hinterthal is an up-market village situated at the foot of the massive Hochkönig peak and Steinernen Meer range. Situated in-between Maria Alm, Dienten and Mülbach the ski area is huge, with the regions slopes connected by tree-lined slopes and a large lift network.
In summer, this region is all about walking in the mountains and golf on the valley floors with 3 of Austria's best courses within 20 minutes drive.
The spectacular city of Salzburg is one hour away by car, making it a very easy journey from the UK.

How to get there
There are plenty of cheap flights from the UK to Salzburg, only one hour from the apartment. BA, Ryanair & Easyjet all fly to Salzburg in winter. Munich International Airpot is also only just over 2 hours away, and Klagenfurt, Innsbruck and Linz are all viable alternatives if flights to Salzburg are not convenient.

Further details indoors: The apartment sleeps 8-10, with accommodation comprising of: - 1 master double bedroom which sleeps 2 - 1 large family room (2 x single beds + day bed + double sofabed) which sleeps 4-5. This room also has it's own living area with table, chairs and tv. This room is ideal as a separate 'kids' bedroom / playroom. - 1 medium family room (austrian double + bunk beds) which sleeps 4. - Lounge with large sofa which can convert into an additional bed if required. - Fully fitted kitchen - Dining area which seats 8 - Bathroom (bath/shower, wc) - Separate wc - Hallway with storage for coats / skis / boots / etc. - Washing machine
The property is excellently located both for the main ski lift (Hochmais) which is less than a five minute walk away and the cafes, bars and restaurants which this pretty little village has to offer. A smaller ski lift / slope (Sonnleiten) is even closer being virtually on the back door.
The apartment has free broadband internet with wi-fi, tv, dvd player, stereo, playstation 2, nintendo 64 and lots of other board games.
PLEASE NOTE: The property can be rented in 2 different configurations. Either the whole property can be rented to sleep 8 to 10 in 3 bedrooms, or alternatively for smaller groups - the large family bedroom can be shut off so that the apartment is in a 2 bedroom configuration sleeping 6 to 7.
