The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region
Salzburgland offers picture postcard scenery with stunning natural attractions such as the Hohe Tauern National Park. The Ski Amade ski area (860km of trails and 258 lifts) incorporates Hochkoenigs Winter Kingdom offering some of the worlds best skiing and snowboarding in winter.
Hintertal has one of the best snow records in Austria with the lifts usually opening in late November. In the summer the area boasts a fantastic range of opportunities including walking, mountain biking, golf and water sports but to name a few, where often the temperature is above 80F.
Maria Alm / Hintermoos area
Maria Alm with its 2 suburbs of Hintermoos and Hintertal, along with the villages of Dienten & Muehlbach make up the Hochkoenig Winter Kingdom. The ski area has 150km of piste served by 39 lifts. For only a few extra euros you can upgrade your pass to cover resorts such as Kaprun & Saalbach Hinterglemm. For the cross country skier there is 30km of marked trails.
There is a free ski bus which runs between all the villages opening up a huge area to all levels of skier. Non skiers are well catered for with winter walking trails, curling, sleigh rides, flood lit toboggan runs & ice skating. Each week there is floodlit skiing and ski shows by instructors from the local ski schools.
Maria Alm and the surrounding area has yet to be discovered by the mass tourist industry and hence manages to retain all its rustic alpine charm. The village of Maria Alm has won awards for being the most beautiful village in the region - it is home to the beautiful 13th Century Pilgrims Church with its 83m high spire - the tallest in the province - well worth a look inside!
Summer in the Hochkoenig region boasts an array of activities including well marked walking trails, fitness trails, open air pool, tennis & fitness centre, summer toboggan run & cycle trails (gentle valley rides & more strenuous mountain routes).
Golfers are well catered for with 5 championship courses in a 20 mile radius.
Also on offer in the area are activities such as white water rafting, canyoning, canoeing and hydro speeding. The Hochkoenig region has a vast array of apres ski bars, cafés and restaurants - something to suit everyone's taste.

The apartment was very nice and the view to the mountains incredible. The area is very beautiful and there are no queues at the lifts. We had a great time there. Mr. Spiros 20.01.09
A great apartment with a beautiful view both from the lounge anf balcony. The swimming pool, sauna, drying room, wifi lounge etc are added bonuses. Well located for the whole Hochkoenig ski area, where lift queues are unheard of! Nigel & Hazel - April 2009
