Home description

The apartment is a 3 minute walk from the village centre, 1 minute from local slopes and bus stop to Aberg ski region. This is a roof apartment with a high ceiling in the lounge/dining area. Cable TV with DVD player, a CD player and broadband internet access are provided. There is a large patio door leading onto a south-facing balcony, with delightful views of the Aberg ski slopes. There are two bedrooms, one with double bed and one bunk-room, both with wardrobe and drawer space. There is a separate well-equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower. The apartment is fully heated, which along with hot water and electricity are all included in the price.
In the basement of the apartment block are two storage rooms for boots and skis. A private parking space is also provided.

The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region

The area enjoys alpine summers with excellent snow conditions in winter. The ski slopes are part of the Ski Amade region which extends along the valley to include Hintermos, Hinterthal, Dienten, Mulbach and many more. The mountain villages offer splendid views of the Steineres Meer(Stony Mountains) and the Hochkonig.

In Spring/Summer there are plentiful walks and cycle routes. By car: Zell am See, Kaprun, Krimmel Waterfalls, Werfen castle and ice caves, Grossglockner and Salzburg are all within easy access.

Maria Alm area

In Spring/Summer delightful walks start from the village and there is a fitness trail and many cycle routes. An outdoor pool with slide and grass area is located at the far end of the village. Tennis courts can be booked at the pool. Also mini-golf is avalilable in the village. The Natrun gondola continues to operate in Summer, providing an excellent starting point for walks. Golf is available 1 km from the village-an 18 hole championship course at Urslautal. Other golf courses in the area. There is a summer toboggan run (1.5km long) at Saalfelden, and many more outdoor activities. There is a Music festival in August and Herbstfest in September when the cows are brought down from the upland pastures.

In winter there is skiing in the village of Maria Alm at the Natrun Gondola. This year the main season runs from 22nd December 2007 to 6th April 2008. There are two ski schools, floodlit skiing and ski shows by the instructors are offered on some evenings within the village. Ski hire is available from the village and can be booked on-line. Further skiing continues down the valley at Aberg or Hintertal. A ski bus operates very regularly from the village or 1 minute walk from the apartment. The pistes are quiet, wide and well-groomed. Apres-ski bars, cafes, restaurants are all available in the village as are shops, a supermarket and banks. It is also possible to use the hotel indoor swimming pool and fitness suite, opposite the apartment, for a charge of 8 euros a day.

How to get there

By air: -A number of low cost airlines, e.g. Ryanair, Thompsonfly, fly into Salzburg daily. Maria Alm is approx. 70 kilometres south of Salzburg, about 1 hour 15 minutes by car. Easyjet fly to Munich, about 2 hour drive.
-Car hire available from Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europocar at the airport.
-Two taxi services operate from Maria Alm for about 110 euros.
-During the day buses run between the airport and Saalfelden, the next town. Regular buses from Saalfelden to Maria Alm.
By car from England: Maria Alm is about a 12 hour drive from Calais.
