The South East England region

Kent is full of attractions and amusements for all age groups and budgets.

A full events programme means there is always something to do much of it free. Broadstairs offers Folk Week, and Ramsgate the new waterskiing Championship. Alternatively simply relax in Margate and listen to top quality jazz bands.

In addition to this there are art galleries to explore, theatres where you can see wonderfully entertaining productions and up-to-the-minute cinemas showing the latest releases.

Margate offers plenty to see and do, and is a great base for visits to nearby Ramsgate, Folkestone, Canterbury and Rochester. France is easily accessible by Ferry from Folkestone or Eurotunnel from Ashford.

London is approximately 90 minutes away by train, offering its world famous landmarks and attractions. Why not take in a West End show, or enjoy the best shopping in London's renowned Oxford and Regent Streets.

For train times and information call 08457 484950.

The town of Margate offers a range of pubs, bars, bistros, and restaurants, and is an ideal base for visiting the many attractions that Kent and the Southeast of England have to offer.

The Turner Contemporary is a visual arts organisation, based in Margate that celebrates JMW Turner's association with the town and promotes the understandling and enjoyment of historical and contemporary art.

Britain's best known painter, JMW Turner (1775-1851), was regular visitor to Margate throughout his life. He was drawn to Margate by the unique quality of the light, leading him to remark that "..the skies over Thanet are the loveliest in all Europe."

The Turner Centre is being substantially expanded, and has already brought about the establishment of a number of arts and crafts shops and exhibitions

The picturesque harbour and ferry port of Ramsgate is less than 8km/5miles away, and the historic city of Canterbury with its renowned cathedral is less than 40 minutes drive away (and easily accesible using public transport).

Margate's other attractions include bowling, swimming, leisure centre, cinemas, night life, and the arts.

Margate beach is a major attraction, and the quieter Walpole Bay and Palm Bay beaches are also a very short walk away.

The Wintergarden theatre is just across the road from the apartment, and has an all year programme of top entertainment.

There are a number of golf course nearby, including the famous Sandwich Golf Club - don't forget your clubs!

The tourism office in Margate Harbour is a good source of local information and the apartment has a folder with brochures and information to help you get the most from your holiday.
