Spacious holiday apartment in a grade II listed seafront Georgian terrace townhouse. No need to have a car to holiday here as its just round the corner from the railway station and across the road from the beach. 2 spacious bedrooms, one of which has panoramic views over the Main Sands to the Turner Contemporary Centre and the Harbour Arm, The other bedroom is quiet and sunny with a double and a single bed. The large-scale open plan seating, dining and kitchen area is in the basement, from which, unusually, you can see the sea.. There is a private courtyard at the rear for dining al-fresco. This very centrally located apartment is a great base for a beach holiday and/or exploring the Isle of Thanet and beyond and has lots of space for sitting, dining and generally chilling out.. The main bus route is nearby with buses to Canterbury, Birchington, Minnis Bay, Broadstairs and Ramsgate and the station is less than 4 minutes away giving access to those destinations and also to Herne Bay, Whitstable, Westgate etc with direct trains to London.
Margate is popular for its flat walking. The Viking Trail is just across the main road too and is popular with cyclists.
Although I would love to say that the apartment is great for people with mobility problems I have to point out that the building is over 200 years old and access to the separate private entrance is down steps which wind under an overhanging Georgian window - people then were so much shorter than we are today and inside tall people need to watch their heads on some parts of the internal staircase - the apartment is on 2 floors. It s all good fun if you are prepared to accept the shortcomings of Georgian living and nowadays the house has internal bathrooms.and central heating!
I would not recommend the apartment to families with children who require a pram or pushchair. There are facilities for cyclists to leave their bikes behind a locked door at the back of the property. Pets are welcome at some times of the year but the front access is close to the very busy Marine Terrace.
