Apartment | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Happy New Year! As winter sets in, the beach becomes a magical place. The sweeping expanse of Margate Main Sands is just across the road for bracing walks in the company of just a few like-minded people, then return to the flat for a hot chocolate or mug of tea, or enjoy a meal out in one of Margate's many fine restaurants, cafes and bistros. Whatever the weather, it's cosy and snug at Dreamland Lets, which is a freshly decorated, comfortable self-catering holiday flat located within Arlington House, an iconic Brutalist tower right on the seafront in Margate with stunning panoramic views from the lounge, all three bedrooms and even the kitchen. Sleeps up to 8 adults (three bedrooms plus double sofa-bed in lounge), with cot mattress available for a toddler. Watch the glorious sunsets from the comfort of your armchair: the famous painter JMW Turner remarked to the influential writer and art critic John Ruskin that “…the skies over Thanet are the loveliest in all Europe”. The unique quality of light in this part of Kent drew Turner back time and again, to stay in his guesthouse by the Harbour, now the site of the Turner Contemporary Gallery designed by the renowned architect David Chipperfield. Located just across the road from Margate Main Sands beach and within walking distance of all Margate's attractions including the Turner Contemporary, the mysterious Shell Grotto, the picturesque Old Town, the wonderfully preserved Tudor House and right next door to the historic Dreamland Scenic Railway which is reopening next year 2015 under the management of designer Wayne Hemingway.
Dreamland Lets self-catering holiday apartment is perfect for family holidays by the seaside, romantic breaks, friends get-aways or business trips. Explore the historic Kent countryside following in the footsteps of the Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Canterbury Pilgrims, Charles Dickens, Turner and TS Eliot, or just laze on the golden sand of Margate's wonderful beaches just across the road.
Everyone's been to Margate: the Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Charles Dickens, JMW Turner, TS Eliot, and more recently Prime Minister David Cameron who visited the Turner Contemporary for the inauguration of the London Array Offshore Wind Farm (July 4th 2013), Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll, poet Lemn Sissay, and Royal Academician artist Tracey Emin whose first major exhibition in her home town of Margate, 'She Lay Down Deep Beneath The Sea' premiered at the Turner Contemporary. The Turner has a constantly changing programme of exhibitions and workshops for both children and adults, as well as a great gift shop and cafe, and is a gentle 10 minute stroll away at the end of Margate Main Sands which are just across the road from the flat.

The South East England region
Margate is a seaside town in the county of Kent which is also known as 'the Garden of England'. It's located in the district of Thanet in east Kent and lies 38 miles east-northeast of Maidstone, on the coast along the North Foreland, and contains the areas of Cliftonville, Garlinge, Palm Bay and Westbrook.
Margate experiences an oceanic climate similar to almost all of the United Kingdom, though its annual precipitation is lower than the national average.
For at least 250 years, the town has been a leading seaside resort in the UK, drawing Londoners to its long clean golden sand beaches, with Marine Terrace running along Margate Main Sands from the Lifeboat Memorial to the Harbour Arm where the new Turner Contemporary Gallery is located, built on the site of the artist JMW Turner's holiday home.
The village of Broadstairs, where Charles Dickens lived, is nearby, and there is a very pleasant Dickens - Turner walk clearly signposted between Margate and Broadstairs, taking you to some of the favourite haunts of these two giants of the artistic and literary world.
