About the home

La Grange provides ideal accommodation for a large family or 2 families sharing, There is ample outdoor space including a swimming pool and terrace for alfresco dining, we welcome children and La Grange has been renovated and equipped accordingly.

La Grange is a brand new barn conversion completed in November 2006, the living accommodation is light and airy yet full of character and maintains many original features. The ground floor comprises open plan Kitchen Dining and Living areas, and also has a large double bedroom and separate bathroomand toilet so providing complete disabled access.

Although linens and towels are provided we would request that you bring your own beach towels. We also provide free of charge a selection of videos, DVDs and children's toys for your own use.

La Grange has a landscaped garden ideal for families. The terrace is West North West facing, ideal therefore for lunchtime dining out of direct heat of the sun and perfect for long lazy evenings drinking the local wine.

An immediate payment of 25% of the total is required to secure your booking with the balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of £100 or €150 is payable on initial booking. Further information available on application.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region

The Vendee is the 2nd sunniest department in France, second only to the Cote d'Azur. Famed for its beaches, the Vendee boasts 150km of coastline, there are beaches to suit all tastes, wild and deserted like La Terriere, commercial town beaches such as Les Sables D'Olonne, surfing and windsurfing beaches such as Les Conches and those of you who enjoy birdwatching will be right at home at L'Aiguillon and on the lowlying Marais Poitevin. It goes without saying therefore that seafood restaurants are many and varied.

The Vendee is also home to the third most popular theme park in France; the wonderful Puy du Fou, set in hundreds of acres of beautiful countryside reenactments of the 100 years war, Viking invasions and Roman games are available each and everyday throughout the summer months, and only 45 minutes drive from La Grange.

For those of you with a quieter holiday in mind the area to the South East is a must. The 'Venise Verte' is a huge area of treelined inland waterways ideal for birdwatching and just messing about in boats:

The Mareuil sur Lay area

Mareuil sur Lay is the centre of the local wine producing region, La Grange is located within 10 minutes drive of 20 Vineyards and walking distance from the largest and most successful.

Mareuil itself has a swimming pool, tennis courts, fishing pontoons, boat hire as well as the usual restaurant facilities and beautiful Romanesque Church.

“Beautiful, comfortable, spacious gite with the kindest owners” If you crave some light and space and like free range hens joining you as you eat outside then this is the place for you. The gite is really well appointed and makes a lovely base to tour the area from or just to stay at and relax.

“An excellent property with friendly, professional service, you'll never want to leave!”” This is our second visit to La Grange. What a fabulous place, everything you could ever want and more. The children are well catered for with lots to keep them busy, so much so that you have to go and find them and tear them away from whatever activity they have found to do. Great place to relax and unwind, so very peaceful. La Grange was very clean and well appointed and spacious. Lovely pool and sunbathing area. Very sad to leave and cant wait to go back again.
