Home description

Casa San Guiso is a Tuscan farmhouse that has been converted into two individual and stylish villas. One on the garden level and one at first floor level - each with their own front doors. Both are fully equipped and superior quality properties, situated on a quiet hillside some 10 km by road to the medievel city of Roccatederighi in the heart of Tuscan Maremma.

The farmhouse has extensive gardens falling away to reveal the medieval city of Roccatedereghi sitting upon the opposing hillside, and is equipped with a 12M swimming pool designed with child safety in mind. The garden area is very relaxing with extensive lawns and trees, with a BBQ and wood fired pizza oven, and garden tables, chairs and sunbeds.

The Tuscany region

Tuscany is the acknowledged place to go for either a relaxing or sophisticated holiday.

Renowned for it's rolling and pictureque hillsides, it's medievel cities, it's famed wine growing regions, it's year round appeal due to almost ideal spring, summer and autumn weather, it's no wonder most Italian millionaires and many international celebreties choose to build their own holiday villas in this region.

The convenience of Rome, Sinenna, Piza can provide a truly memorable shopping experience for those with an eye for fashion, and the famed local coastal towns, ports and beaches enough variation to keep all of the family happily enterrtained, day or night.

For the UK holidaymaker, Ryanair, EasyJet, and even British Airways, now offer good value flights direct into Piza or Rome, and whether you wish to hire a people mover or a sports car, local car hire can be readily organised from the UK at budget prices.

Maremma / Roccatederighi area

Maremma is the coastal region of Southern Tuscany between Elba and Agentario, approximately 90 minutes by car south of Pisa and a similar distance north of Rome. The coastal plain provides stunning sandy beaches and pretty coastal marinas, but 30 minutes inland arise the wooded hills of Southern Tuscany where our property is located.

Our closest large city is Grosseto, but closer still are Roccastrada, Sassafortino and Roccatederighi, three pretty hillside medieval towns still within easy distance of the coast, but set on pretty hilltops within our local dense chestnut forests. Each has local shopping and banking facilities.

These three delightfully slow country towns all overlook the coastal plain, provides glimpses of the gentle Mediterranean shimmering only 30/40 minutes away. Outside the towns, there are hiking trails that run through the forested countryside and local vineyards, and the whole area abounds with things to see and do.

The Maremma holiday season is truly year round.

The long lazy hot summers with the conventional local beaches and private wooded countryside, quickly move into an exciting series of local wine Festivals in September. Along with the Autumn months comes all the local activities of mushroom picking in the forests, and then after the wild boar hunting season our winter then begins to arrive. Not more that 60 minutes away at Mt Amiata you will even find a small ski resort awaits you or your guests......yes , even snow skiing in Tuscany!

But then it follows with our clear blue skys heralding our sunny Tuscan springtime with wild flowers all around - and summer arrive all over again.

How to get there
