Home description
Seacrest has a heated pool, spa and dock. There are ten-foot ceilings in every room and the layout is grand, flowing, and spacious. Central air conditioning, which can be controlled in every room (via duct adjustments), is STANDARD! Also, ALL bedrooms have ceiling fans in them.
Seacrest sits on a lushly, tropically landscaped, over-sized corner property (160 feet verses the normal 80 feet for most homes on Marco). There is a huge side lawn for those days when you want to have the children close to home while you sit by the pool or enjoy a quiet day around the house. We think the view from the back lanai is nothing short of spectacular (see photos). Seacrest is situated on the end of a waterway facing east toward Landmark waterway. We estimate it to be a short ride by boat to the open waters of the Gulf and tropical sunsets and frolicking dolphins that Marco is famous for. And best of all, you come out by Cape Marco at the south end of the island...
And, of course, there is the large, heated, swimming pool (five and one-half feet deep tapering to three and one-half feet). Covered in the winter, so we can keep it warm for you, and situated on an over-sized lanai, it is the perfect place to relax at the water's edge and enjoy the view. The lanai has its own small refrigerator so you can keep cool drinks and snacks close at hand. There are loungers for four people and table seating for eight at the tables.
With Seacrest's lanai facing to the east, you have the most fantastic sunrises and, best of all, we get sun for most of the day as the sun makes its way over the lanai heading east to west. Also, there is a portion of the lanai that gets sun ALL day, as it is not blocked at any time by the house. We have positioned two of the lounge chairs at this location.
One of the really "cool" things about Seacrest, is that there are so many sliding doors and expansive windows that open up onto the lanai. It is really easy to enjoy the long water view from any of the common rooms of the home. The living room opens up to the pool area with fully-retracting, eight-foot, sliding doors. Many of the common areas like the family room and living room have wall-to-wall carpet. The contemporary formal dining room seats six. It is adjacent to the kitchen, yet private enough to keep "cooking" noise to a minimum.
The master bedroom suite (we call it the Athens Room) is exactly what you would expect in a home of this grandeur. There is a 30-inch Sony XBR TV with matching DVD player (and, yes, we supply the DVDs). There are wireless headphones so one person can sleep while the other watches the TV. Also, there is a personal audio system with CD/tape and AM/FM tuner.
The master bathroom boasts twin sinks which are inlaid on a cultured marble counter with a massive mirror set behind the vanity. There is a soaking tub and separate shower. The toilet, located in a separate room set to the right side of the shower, allows couples to make use of the master bathroom at the same time without surrendering any privacy.
The Rome Room (we call it this because the decor reminds us of Italy) offers a queen-size bed, home computer system with always on high-speed internet access, 17-inch flat panel monitor, fax/multi-function centre, and TV/DVD entertainment system. Ceiling fan, alarm clock, and telephone are also present. The Cairo Room (it has a sultry Arabian Nights feel to it!) offers two twin beds and a personal entertainment system that includes a TV/VCR and a Nintendo Game Cube (with a few of our select games from our own collection). Ceiling fan, alarm clock, and telephone are also present.

The Florida / Florida Gulf Coast region
Marco Island is the largest of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands, located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida. It has been described as Magical, Mystical and Paradise. The attraction is tropical sun-washed white-sand beaches and a casual easy paced life style. Sunshine, frolicking dolphins, and all of the water and sun sports that go with the beaches are available for your pleasure. As you cross the Judge Jolley Bridge and look out over the Island and water ways, you get a sense you are entering paradise.
Golfers paradise is one way of describing Florida. Marco and nearby Naples is no exception. With at least six public courses within 15 minutes and many more within a 30 minute drive, you will be spoilt for choice. All the courses are of the highest standard, with the beautiful Lely Resort offering a choice of two championship courses designed by Lee Travino and Robert Trent Jones. Rates in the summer are very reasonable and can be as little as $30 a round (including cart).
Marco Island is one of the top Florida destinations for vacationers, and with good reason. Whether you are a family traveling with children, a couple looking for romance, or a group of friends wanting nonstop fun, Marco's prime Florida location and perfect weather guarantee you will have the time of your life!
Marco Island area
Undoubtedly, one very attractive feature of Seacrest is its proximity to the best Marco has to offer to tourists. Unlike some other Marco rental owners that really stretch the term "Walk to the Beach" (you should ask them), we MEAN IT!!! And not just ANY beach - South Beach! We are located right down the block from the Marriott and all the shopping and fine dining that goes with it.Also, we are a short walk to the church located on Landmark and San Marco and to Residence Beach for the monthly guests.
Marco Island, is on the Gulf Coast just a two hour drive through the Everglades from Miami and three and a half hours from Orlando. Built around a canal system, this exclusive Island, measuring only six miles by four, is tranquil, idyllic and the perfect place for a safe family holiday in the sun.
With its beautiful white sands stretching all down the west side of the Island, the beaches are not crowded and unspoiled. The inviting warm blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico are a perfect place to bathe or to simply spot the many dolphins that come close to the shore. In particular, the beach provides a perfect vantage point to watch the breathtaking sunsets.
It is the ideal place for those who enjoy water sports - with jet skiing, boat rentals, fishing excursions and even paragliding available on the Island. For those less energetic it is a 20 minute drive into the Everglades where you can take an Airboat ride to discover the wildlife including real wild Alligators. The Island has a number of unique boutiques and shops, providing for all your needs. There is a cinema and over 30 restaurants. Naples is only a twenty minute drive away and with department stores, factory outlet shops and the famous Tin City with its unique small shops, it is a haven for shoppers and bargain hunters. Naples also offers its own beautiful beaches giving even more choice to the holiday maker.
On Marco Island, your vacation choices are almost endless: Everything from quiet sunsets on the beach to exciting water activities, to world renowned theme parks and world class golfing...all within short distances. But, perhaps what is most unique about a vacation on Marco Island is that YOU get to choose from so many activities, or just to relax and enjoy the Caribbean breezes and soft sand beaches. No other place in Florida has so much to offer in terms of proximity to tourist attractions and yet so many ways to relax in an island lifestyle!
If you have a need to get off of Marco Island, it is easy. Marco Island is connected to the gulf side of Florida by two bridges, so visitors have easy driving access to many Florida attractions, including the Everglades National Park, Disney World, Epcot Centre, the new Discovery Cove (where you can actually swim with dolphins!), Miami's "South Beach" (for the jet set), Naples (for great couture shopping), the Teddy Bear Museum, world class golf courses (15 public and many more semiprivate all within a short driving distance)!, swamp buggy tours, shelling expeditions and much more!
But, you won't need to leave Marco Island to have a fabulous vacation. Unlike many other Florida vacation spots, Marco Island is perfect on its own. That is why so many vacationers come back year after year! Marco Island is loved for its soft white sandy beaches, beautiful sea shells, balmy gulf breezes, and stunning gulf sunsets. The average temperature is a perfect 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit depending on what time of year you visit (May through September being the warmest). Perhaps that is why the best way to enjoy Marco Island is on the water, and all forms of water craft are available for rent, everything from jet skis, sail boats, catamarans and Kayaks to airboats and full size luxury boats. Deep sea fishing and casino cruises can even be arranged right from the Island. Dolphin and Manatees love Marco Island too, and you can expect to see many of them in and around the Island!
"Where to eat" is always an issue on Marco Island. There are so many choices that even "locals" have trouble picking their favourites. If you prefer intimate gourmet restaurants, you simply must dine at "Olde Marco Inn" or "The Collier House". And, if you enjoy family style or casual beach eateries, you won't want to miss a real local favourite, the "Snook Inn", located right on the water, with its own boat dock, live island music and seasonal seafood buffet. One of the most beautiful places to watch the sunset is at "Quinns on the Beach", an island style casual restaurant that is located literally on the beach. Honestly, you can even build a sand castle while waiting for your meal to arrive, or take a stroll on the beach to walk off the coconut shrimp appetizer that you couldn't resist. These are only a few of the great restaurants on Marco. The list of fresh seafood restaurants alone is amazing!
Even though it is a small island, small enough to literally walk to many of its wonderful beaches, or to bicycle ride around in a single day, Marco Island offers its visitors all of the amenities of full scale city resorts: tennis, health and fitness clubs (with daily passes available), movie theaters, marinas, local art galleries, and charming island boutiques. Whether you come to play, unwind, or simply pause long enough to catch your breath, any vacation spent on Marco Island is guaranteed to create special times that you will cherish forever.

Further details indoors: The kitchen in Seacrest is clearly designed for the cooks in the family. It boasts a huge pantry, way more cabinets then we could possibly fill, and "premium" appliances including microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and refrigerator. The counters and breakfast bar are made of Corian for easy clean up and care. We loved the fact that you can see any activities going on in the pool (through the nook's window) and in the family room.
Adjacent to the breakfast bar is a nook, so there is plenty of room for the whole family to sit and enjoy meals in a more casual setting than the formal dining area. Between the breakfast bar and the nook you can seat seven.
The family room (where we spend our time inside) has a really cooooool family entertainment system. The 36-inch television is a Sony connected to a DVD player and home theater system with digital surround sound.
There are five speakers total that create the home theater experience. You can also listen to CDs and AM/FM radio through the audio component of the system. The leather couch turns into a queen-size sleeper bed and there is a ceiling fan overhead for your comfort.
And, of course, Seacrest includes a high-capacity washer and dryer which is located near the entrance way to the garage and adjacent to the kitchen. As is typical in our home, storage and cabinet space abounds. The pass through the laundry room from the garage allows you to keep any beach remnants as far from the inside of the home as possible.
