The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The Mediterranean climate at the Costa del Sol takes its name from and is influenced by the proximity of the sea. The annual average temperature is around 21C and there are over 300 days of sunshine a year - with such glorious weather it really is an all year round holiday destination.
The Costa del Sol is a Mecca for sports activity enthusiasts centred on what has become known as the ‘Costa del Golf’. The region boasts numerous courses; add these to tennis clubs, equestrian courses, sailing clubs, diving and walking - what more could you ask for!
Inland from the terrific beaches and ports, with their fantastic range of restaurants and shops, you can explore the natural beauty of the Andalucian countryside and Sierra Nevada mountains, Moorish towns, parks and gorges, all there for you to explore. For the more adventurous, see the sights by hot air balloon or try your hand at abseiling, white water rafting or canoeing.
The Costa del Sol does not forget children. If they have had enough of the pool and beach, entertainment is never far away - sea life centres, water and amusements parks are all close at hand. And don’t forget that trip to Gibraltar - great for duty free shopping, an unbeatable view from the top of the Rock (with the famous monkeys) and unforgettable boat trips - a terrific day out. You will find delightful and scenic mountains with quaint Spanish villages and valleys abundant with orchards and some amazing views beyond the coastline
The city of Malaga is easily accesible by either car (a 45-minute drive) or public transport. The museums, cathedral and Alcazaba in the old town are all places of great historial interest along with the birthplace of Picasso. To capture all the points of interest has to offer we strongly recommend you take the City Tour Bus which is a "hop-on, hop-off" service and runs about every 15 minutes. For shoppers a visit to Calle Larios is a must with its high-class boutiques and numerous shops to cater for all tastes. To experience the Spanish way of life, a visit to the Malaga food market is an unforgettable experience.
Europe's southern-most ski resort and home to Spain's highest mountains, towards the end of the season it is possible to ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon on the Costa del Sol. Southern Spain isn't normally associated with snow, but the combination of the Sierra Nevada's altitude (it is the highest part of Spain) and proximity to the Mediterranean means a good combination of snow and relatively warm weather. In recent years, however, snow machines have had to be brought in to guarantee snow throughout the season.

We booked a last minute holiday at JayMar Casa and very surpised on how it fitted out we did not need to take anything other than our clothes. The service from Jack and Margaret was excellent.
