Both beaches are situated 8 minutes walk from the apartment. Sabinillas has a beautiful beach, promenade and children's play area. Estepona Beach and promenade is a 5-min drive away. The Port is a hive of activity every night of the week. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Traviata Bar & Restaurant a lively friendly bar for pre dinner drinks and then on to restaurant for the best & biggest! shoulder of lamb or steak on the sword. Macues Restaurant reputed to be one of the best restaurants along the coast is on the first floor with beautiful views over the port. The fish baked in salt is a speciality. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are no night-clubs or disco's in La Duquesa. Monte Duquesa itself is also quiet at night, which makes the location ideal for family holidays. The hottest night-spots on the coast are located in Puerto Banus and Marbella but there are Clubs along the main motorway heading East from the apartment. Nightlife in Spain doesn't start until after midnight and lasts all night long. Large Casino's can be found in Marbella and Gibraltar. Shopping La Duquesa has small shops a bank and convenience stores. (5 min walk from apartment). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Las Sabinillas, a small Spanish village next to La Duquesa, has a large supermarket and many small stores. (3 min drive from apartment). The Supersol supermarket is the best place for grocery shopping. There is also a local tobacconist where you can purchase cigarettes at less than one third of the cost in the UK or Ireland. Tobacconist also sells postage stamps. There are many traditional bar and restaurants which are worth exploring. The village holds an Open air market and car boot sale every Sunday morning, which is well worth a browse. Some great bargains in antiques, pottery and second hand goods. The market is held on an open area just off the motorway. Sabinillas has a nice beach, promenade and children playarea. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Estepona has plenty of shops and boutiques. The town boasts the very large Carrefour Supermarket (10 min drive from apartment) on the East Side of the town. This Hypermarket is the best place to purchase your groceries, hardware, wine and alcohol, all at reasonable prices. Estepona town holds a very large open air street market every Wednesday morning. Here you can get great bargains in clothing, footwear, leather, pottery, fruit and veg, watches & jewellery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Estepona Port, a 5 min drive from apartment, holds an open-air street market every Sunday morning. This is a fun market with lots of souvenirs and traditional goods available. Great value for leather goods, pottery, paintings, handcrafts, designer wear, sunglasses, t-shirts, rugs etc. A nice way to spend Sunday morning is to visit this market after the Sabinillas market. Note the markets are open from 8am to 1pm. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puerto Banus, a 30 min drive from apartment, is famous for its upmarket boutiques and department stores. El Corte Englais and Hipercore are the two main departments stores in which you can "shop till you drop"! Puerto Banus also holds an open-air market on Saturday mornings from 8am to 1pm in the streets surrounding the bullring. This is a great market with plenty of bargains.
Cable Ski Situated in San Pedro, 25 minutes from Duquesa. Enjoy water skiing in a safe environment. Ski from a cable on a natural lake. Great fun
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dolphin Safari See Gibraltar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Equestrian Show Featuring the famous Andalucian Horses See Estepona ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Casinos Located in Marbella, Puerto Banus and Gibraltar ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Selwo National Park Selwo National Park, 20 minutes drive from the apartment, between Estepona and San Pedro, on the site originally assigned for Euro Disney, is an innovative Nature Park, unique in Europe that invites you to live a real adventure surrounded by nature. It has more than 100 hectares where you will enjoy its contrasting features, sometimes wild and sometimes blissful, and where animals of the five continents coexist in semi wild conditions This is a fantastic day out for all ages. Cost is €15.00 approx. per adult and €10.00 per child. The lower end of the park is where you can see the monkeys, crocodiles, farm animals etc. Then you pass through a huge aviary to the upper park where there are snack bars and restaurants. From here there are safari trucks that take you to the outer areas of the park to see the lions, tigers, elephants, bears, etc. Not to be missed. Allow a full day for Selwo. Tip for children in buggies: The terrain is very rough in parts so take the opportunity to hire one of the special kiddies buggies inside the park and bring your camera. A comprehensive plan of the park is available free at the entrance with a suggested route to follow and ensure that you see everything. The park is basically separated into five sections: 1. Gateway to Nature 2. Birds Canyon 3. Central Village 4. Route of the Savannah 5. Route of the Valleys Apart from the walking sections, there are large open lorries, which take visitors from one section of the park to the other and allow an open view. There are some smaller enclosures for the monkeys and tropical birds, but all are well tended and it was great to see no signs of stress so often associated with typical town zoos. The park has a breeding programme which is apparently very successful and they are planning specialised learning weekends with onsite accommodation. There are bars and restaurants (open for meals from 12.00) which offer everything from snacks to three course meals. We found the prices to be surprisingly reasonable. Also, several gift shops offer a range of souvenirs, books and gift items for all ages. Highly Recommended
Tivoli World Tivoli World in Benalmadena offers great fun for younger (up to 12 year old) children. Admission is €5.00 and a travel pass for unlimited access to most of the rides costs €12.00. The park is a spanish version of Disney's Magic Kingdom, is well run and good value. Opening times are 5.00p.m. to 1.00a.m. There are traditional shows and food & drinks are good value. Benalmadena is 50 mins from Duquesa. Tivoli World is near Selwo Marina so a visit to both provides a great day and night out. Highly recommended.
Selwo Marina Located in Benalmadena, near Tivoli World, this park hosts a fantastic dolphin show, a sea lions show, a parrot show and you can also visit Penguin World. Admission is €15.00

Marbella / La Duquesa Port area
Marbella This world famous town, perhaps best known as the playground of the rich and famous never ceases to surprise visitors with its beauty and history dating back to 1600BC. If you are in town for the shops and restaurants you will certainly not be disappointed. Top names abound along the main street in the newer part of town and if you want somewhere to relax and enjoy a drink try the ´Puerto Deportivo´ or leisure port, which is well signposted from the main street. The top tourist resort on the Costa Del Sol is located 30 minutes drive East from the apartment. Spend the afternoon on Marbella's beautiful beach, walk the stylish promenade and shop in the upmarket shops and boutiques. Visit Marbella "Old Town" in the evening and explore the narrow paved streets and open squares where the Spanish gather in the local bars, cafés and restaurants. Orange Square, is the centre of the Old Town and is surrounded by maze of narrow paved streets with small shops, restaurants, galleries and typical, village style houses. Call to Puerto Banus on your way back to Duquesa. Puerto Banus Puerto Banus is a 25-minute drive from the apartment, and is definitely a millionaire's paradise! The marina abounds with million dollar yachts and the brand name stores cater for their millionaire customers. The restaurants here are surprisingly good value. Try one of the Argentinean restaurants (El Gaucho; Tango's; Mona Lisa) for juicy steaks, huge portions and great value. Puerto Banus is famous for its nightlife, with popular night clubs and discotheques. Nightlife starts here after midnight! A must for party animals, Puerto Banus is the capital of nightlife on the Costa del Sol. See how the other half live and treat yourself to a day of indulgence. There are designer clothes and shoe shops galore as well as perfumeries, gift shops and art galleries. Even a sea life centre! If you want to stay late that is when Puerto Banús comes to life. Choose from salsa, disco or live music or even enjoy a pint of the black stuff in the authentic Irish Pub. The choices of nightlife are endless but one thing is for sure. You can bop ´til you drop with most of the bars open until dawn.
Marbella was originally called Salduba when discovered by the Romans and the old part of Marbella known as the Casco Antiguo is built upon Roman ruins. The Moors invaded Spain in 711 and the whole Iberian Peninsula was overrun. Marbella (then Marbi-la) became prosperous built in accordance with Mediterranean-Arab architecture. In 1845 the Catholic Kings reconquered the town and it is thought that at this time it was given its present name literally meaning ´beautiful sea´ in Spanish. The architectural style was once again changed giving way to wider streets and larger houses in typical Casillian style. The Orange Square in the old part of the town bears witness to the history of the town. Opened in 1485 it is surrounded by three historical buildings: The Town Hall (1568), the Old Governors House (1552), and the Hermitage of Santiago (15th century). In the centre of the square is a bust of King Juan Carlos I. Another interesting spot to visit is the Church Square with the beautiful and historical Church of Saint Mary (1618). There are also a great many shrines and Roman ruins to be found in the town.
