The Costa del Sol region
The Estepona and San Pedro region most definitely has a tranquil, 'Spanish' feel to it. The location of El Campanario gives you many varied options of places to visit.
With an abundance of bars and restaurants nearby, the Estepona area is a place to relax and unwind as well as enjoy yourself to the full.
The area benefits from all year round sunshine, even January temperatures can reach 20 degrees.
There are many places of interest to visit, including Selwo Safari Park and Algeciras Water Park, both fantastic for kids, the famous Rock of Gibraltar which is popular for duty free goods only 30 minutes away, and also the popular Puerto Banus, exclusive marina known for its buzzing nightlife.....only a 10 minute drive away.
The area really is a golfers paradise with an abundance of courses nearby including Valle Romana Golf, Los Almendros, Estepona Golf, Atalaya Golf, El Paraiso, Los Arqueros and Guadalmina all within a 10 minutes drive.
Placed on the Western Coast, Estepona is one of a few cities that support a traditional distinction with a strong sense of history. The city has turned into a very important tourist center thanks to its magnificent beaches and for the quantity of facilities and quality services that it offers.
The town is essentially divided into the port and its immediate vicinity and the main town. The port is a vibrant meeting place for both locals and tourists. On the seafront a large selection of bars and restaurants specialise in serving fresh local fish, as well as the usual international range of dishes.
The back streets of Estepona see most of the action though. There seems no end to the number of small bars and tapas hidden around the many narrow corners. The most popular place is Plaza de los Flores (Flower Square) and here you will find a large concentration of bars built around the fountain and garden. This is the equivalent of Orange Square in Marbella and during the summer is definitely the place to socialise and make new friends.
Estepona has an interesting night scene which, like Marbella, gets its reputation not through what you see when you enter the town, but from the surprises which await the visitor to its back streets.
