House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Marbella is quite simply the most exclusive resort on the Costa del Sol. However few people realise that a holiday here need cost no more than elsewhere. In addition there is easy access to the countryside and the rest of the coast. Marbella is more than a seaside resort. It is an interesting town in its own right.
The Old Town forms the very centre of Marbella. The Old Town is the former fishing village. It is now pedestrianised and full of boutiques, bars and restaurants.
In a picture postcard street in the heart of the Old Town the house, which is over 200 years old but modernised inside, has space (lounge, three bedrooms, two bathrooms) modern facilities (full kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher) a barbecue and two sun terraces.

Inside the house you will find the traditional arches, tiled floors, thick walls and even a well. You will also find modern facilities such as a fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
However the main point about the accommodation is its location. Unlike other properties, this is not "near" Marbella, it is right in Marbella.
You will not need a car as you can stroll to anywhere in town you wish to go. This includes the beach, hundreds of restaurants and bars, designer boutiques, banks and all the amenities of a sophisticated modern European town.
The Costa del Sol region
An all year round location, where January and February are better than a British summer, the Costa del Sol is justly famous throughout the world.
Marbella, being tucked under the mountain of La Concha, has its own microclimate and is the pearl of the Costa. Forget lager louts and high rise hotels - you will not find any.
The Mayor has forbidden package tours to this classy and elegant town. Instead you will find the safest town in Europe with an indefinable laid back elegance.
Marbella is a world class resort, known for the beaches, the night life, the visiting film stars, the excellent restaurants and the bars.
However unlike other resorts which close in the off season, Marbella is a proper town in its own right. Full of life all year, it contains museums, ancient buildings and other sights to see, not to mention the delights of wandering around the colourful streets.
There are day trips available to Tangiers, Granada and other places.

"A hot place to stay"
Rented at last moment, the house seemed to be a great place to stay. It does look great on the outside and every passer-by does take a picture of the flowers. In the July heat it did turn to an almost… More
My wife and I who are both retired schoolteachers let this, our previous home, in a friendly and welcoming way, mainly to families and the like.
It must be said that the person who wrote this review, a Russian businessman who told us he had originally planned to stay in a five star hotel, was not our usual type of customer.
However we did our best to accommodate him, and his young companion.
The house was thoroughly cleaned for them and prepared, and although we do not usually provide towels we gave them four each, as well as extra sheets and other extras that they requested, free of charge.
My wife and I were therefore very surprised – and we must say hurt - to read this review. This is particularly as this person expressed total satisfaction with the house during his stay. In fact he rang us after having spent six nights in the house and said he found it “charming.”
On the last day he knew that checking out time was 11 a.m. and he had promised to be out by then, particularly as our next customers were due.
However when we arrived at 11, we discovered that there was rubbish everywhere, with soiled sheets and empty bottles strewn around, and piles of washing up
which my wife eventually had to do herself.
This person was still in bed and had to be persuaded to make a move. He was also reluctant to pay for his last night at the house although he had stayed there.
Our feeling is that this review does not reflect his considered opinion, but was written – two days later – in a fit of pique.
If his concerns were genuine he could have phoned us in the week. He was given our phone number and we live only five minutes' walk away. However he did not.
For this reason we do not think his concerns as stated are genuine.
Nevertheless we are obliged to deal with the points he has raised:
Washing machine. It is working. One has only to read the instructions which have been provided.
TV. There a quite a few channels available and he knew this. On the day he left for example we noticed that he had tuned to “Russia Today” – a channel he apparently enjoyed so much he left it on all night.
The drinks and food in the fridge. There were not left behind by “previous guests.” They were bought and deliberately put there by my wife as a welcoming gift. Here again he has failed to understand the friendly way we do things.
Heat. Of course it is warm in Marbella in July. That is why people come here. Unfortunately that week, Spain, like the UK was experiencing a heat wave and the usual cooling breeze from the sea was absent. However one can open a window and there are five fans in the house. The reviewer knew that air conditioning was available on request but he did not ask us for it.
Cleaning. The house was very thoroughly cleaned. There was no smell is any of the rooms.
Luggage. We often keep people's luggage for them because we always try to be helpful. We did look after his luggage for three hours at the house. We offered to continue to do so at our own house but our offer was turned down.
Of course this person is entitled to his opinions but there were inaccuracies in this review which we hope we have now corrected.

"A home away from home in the heart of Spanish charm."
Do yourself a favour and stay in this charming elegant Spanish home. Set in the very heart of Old Town, Marbella. This house has everything you could ask for right in the centre of it all. Minutes from everything, fabulous Michelin rated restaurants, local shops, sophisticated high end boutiques, minutes from the best beaches, all within in walking distance. The house itself is quintessential Spain, old world tiled floors, rooftop terrace, exceedingly well maintained with all of the modern essentials you could ask for. The owners of the house are wonderfully welcoming and always available for recommendations, advise and any issue which may arise. Our stay in Marbella was as wonderful as it could be, staying in this lovely house you immediately feel like a part of the town itself and like a very part of the fine Spanish lifestyle you seek experience. Like I said at the beginning definitely do yourself and those you care about a favour and experience this enchanting house in the middle of it all in exotic Marbella.

"House in Old Town"
The rooms in the house were smaller than we were expecting. The kitchen was miniscule, as were 2 of the bedrooms. The middle bedroom had neither door nor a window, and neither did the kitchen. As it was high summer it meant that the house wasstiflingly hot even with windows and doors open. The house smelled of damp and drains, especially in the bathrooms. The roof terrace was quirky but very overlooked so the beach is probably the better option, although it takes a good 10 minutes to reach. If you like wildlife look out for lizards and cockroaches! The hous is located well for exploring the old town but we did find it very difficult to sleep as the streets nearby were very noisy at night.
We believe that the photos of our house, the fact that we originally bought and furnished it for ourselves, not for letting, the positive emails and recommendations we constantly receive, the fact that we barely need to advertise and the fact that large sections of next year have already been booked by happy returning customers speaks for itself.
For some reason whoever wrote this review does not appear to know the layout of the house and our records show that we have never let to anybody by this name.
