Home description

Los Lagos de Santa Maria is located in Elviria approximately 30 minutes from Malaga airport on the East side of Marbella. This new luxury apartment with Wi-Fi connection has 2 bedrooms, one en suite and a main bathroom. Leading from the living room is a spacious South facing balcony with stunning sea, pool & mountain views. It is furnished with 2 sun loungers, 2 tables and 4 chairs, which allows al fresco dining whilst enjoying the Southerly view to the two continents of Europe and Africa along with fantastic mountain views to the North. When the sun is out, which is most of the year, it shines on the balcony from early morning through till evening.

Elviria La Romana beach is approximately 5 minutes away by car and is one of the best on the coast. During the Summer months there is jet skiing and water skiing along with fun boats for the kids. There are plenty of golf courses and tennis courts nearby along with a great water park and Go-karting facilities close at hand. Other amenities include, Selwo safari park, sealife marina, adventure sports activities, scuba diving, horse riding, football coaching and many more activities. Restaurants, bars and supermarkets are close at hand.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

The Costa del Sol is the quickest route to the sun. The best climate in Europe and great beaches that are more accessible thanks to improving infrastructure. There is a rich mixture of cultural & historic sites for those that want to explore along the coastline. For those that want to wine & dine after a hard days sunbathing then there are countless top quality restaurants, trendy bars and discos. For those with families there are many opportunities to try different water and land sporting activities as well as spending a relaxing day on one of the many beaches on the Costa del Sol. You really do have an opportunity to have a wonderful holiday whether it's peaceful and relaxing, or sporty and hectic you will find what you are looking for on the Costa del Sol.


Marbella / Elviria area

Elviria is an established part of Marbella and only 30 minutes from Malaga airport. The area has a mixture of apartments, villa's and large townhouses. Los Lagos de Santa Maria apartments are a 25 minute walk to two commercial centres, where there is a good selection of fine restaurants, bars and shops including two Supermarkets - one open late at night and Sundays.

The Elviria La Romana beach is approximately 5 minutes by car where during the Summer there is jet skiing and water skiing along with fun boats for the children. The beach is also great for walking in the off season.

There are also safari parks and water parks nearby or football coaching if you want to keep the boys happy. If you fancy some ten pin bowling or some shopping in fashionable shops and boutiques try La Canada (pronounced Canyada) a huge shopping centre only a 15-20 minutes from Los Lagos in the Marbella direction. A further 5 - 10 minutes further on and you arrive at the millionaires hang-out in beautiful Puerto Banus for even more great shops, restaurants and fabulous yachts in the port.

The Elviria area is a golfers paradise with many fine courses located nearby. Apart from the magnificent 18 hole Santa Maria course there is a great 9 hole par three course at Greenlife Golf less than 10 minutes from Los Lagos (just up the hill from old town Elviria). This is a great little challenge for all the family with reasonable green fees and equipment rental rates. There is also a driving range, putting green and gymnasium at Greenlife. The restaurant there, "El Lago", is great spot for lunch and over looks the first 2 holes and small lake with it's large fountain and selection of ornamental fish.

At the Santa Maria Country Club, as well as the fabulous 18 hole golf course, there is a pro shop, putting green, tennis courts and two outdoor bowling rinks. Not forgetting to mention "H19", an indoor/outdoor bar & restaurant. For further information please see our own new website.


How to get there

Approximately 30 minutes by car from Malaga Airport. Transfers by local British representative (fluent Spanish) can be arranged in advance for those that do not wish to hire a car. Taxis are also widely available at the airport.

For car hire we recommend booking in advance through www.doyouspain.com who get the best prices from the on airport car companies. The downside of this is that there may be a large queue at the company with the best price at the time. However, the booking through doyouspain is only a reservation, so no money changes hands until you collect the car. It has been known that previous guests have abandoned their car-hire reservation because of a long queue and struck a deal with one of the local firms where there was no queue.

Malaga airport is going through major redevelopment until Summer 2008. The on airport car hire companies tend to reserve a space for you at the airport enabling easy drop-off parking and access to the terminal on your return home.

Driving directions.

Take the AP7/E15 toll road towards Cadiz on leaving the airport (keep right for slip road on). Leave the toll road at the Calahonda exit and take the A7/N340 coast road in the direction of Marbella. Elviria / Santa Maria exit is at the 192 km marker and is the exit after Cabopino and then Las Chappas.

Nearby Landmarks: Look out for the tall Don Carlos hotel on the horizon off to the left just after the Las Chappas exit (at night the sign is lit in large blue letters). On seeing this hotel you are only half a mile to the turning. You will also pass 2 Campsa petrol stations opposite each other not long after the Don Carlos first comes into view.

The apartment lounge has a cream leather suite together with dining table and four chairs. The large 37" LCD TV has the benefit of UK Sky Satellite and there are also selections of CD's and DVD's. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and has plenty of cupboard space along with a utility room, which has a washing machine and tumble dryer. The bedrooms are found at the end of a long hall way with the master bedroom having the benefit of a sea view. The secured underground car park is entered by an electric gate and has a private parking space. The apartment located on the second floor is accessed via the stairs or elevator(lift). This contemporary apartment is fully air conditioned and is bright and airy and includes all the luxuries found in modern day living.

There are 4 swimming pools on the complex with the main one situated directly across from the apartment. The grass area around the pool has sun beds, parasols and stunning sea views. The tennis courts and out door bowling greens are situated next to the Santa Maria Golf Clubhouse and can be reached within 5 minutes, both can be used for a small charge. The golf club's T19 restaurant has indoor and out door dining areas with views to the first tee and eighteenth green.

What a great place to spend the month of November. Had a great first week "holidaying" and wining and dining with our extravagant son and daughter-in-law, followed by 4 weeks of my husband and I "living" in what is a beautiful home. My husband is a keen bowler and was able to take out a monthly membership with the British run bowling club attached to Santa Maria Golf Club, so that kept him out from under my feet!

Can't wait to go back next year. Thanks for a great time.

The apartment is beautiful and the views from the large balcony amazing. Nice big pool just below the apartment nicely landscaped and well equipped area around the pool. Plenty of nice restaurants only a cab ride away if you don't want to take the car and good supermarkets nearby for the self-catering aspect. Particularly enjoyed the nearby Greenlife 9 hole golf course with it's beautiful setting and lovely restaurant overlooking the large pond.

A real home from home on holiday. Thanks very much for a wonderful week. Hoping to return next June.
