Trevenner Farmhouse, Marazion
About the home
This lovely family home is a former farmhouse built in the 16th century and is steeped in the history of the magical seaside town of Marazion. The farmhouse once served the monks who lived in the monastery on St Michaels Mount, and it remained part of the St. Aubyn Estate until recently. The building is closely linked to the history of the Mount and has stones brought from the monastery set in the front façade, as documented in its Grade 2 listing.
Inside, it has been tastefully renovated, and is roomy enough for all the family and friends. The large kitchen has space to cook, to chat, to eat and to relax together. Traditionally decorated it still offers the comforts of contemporary modern living from microwave to dishwasher.
The peaceful lounge has room for everyone to relax after a day on the beach, with pretty window seats overlooking the garden for the summer months, or you can snuggle up around the log burning stove during the winter nights. The four bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms allow plenty of space for guests to feel a sense of peace and comfort. The thick granite walls provide a calm haven , a retreat from every day lives. Yet for families there is a children's play area nearby, many local activities such as wind and kite surfing, swimming and sailing, safe beaches and wonderful places for adults to walk. You will be two minutes from the Cornish Coastal Path – turn left for the Lizard and right for Lamorna cove and Lands End. In morning you can simply walk to the village to pick up some fresh bread and Sunday papers and even enjoy a soothing cappucino in one of the local deli's or teashops. There is a great local pub within 5 minutes walk, which serves food (most of the year anyway!)
To the side of Trevenner Farmhouse runs a little-known pathway through the houses then down to the beach in about 10 minutes along the Cornish Coastal Path.
The more active can walk into Marazion Village along the beach, visit the deli, shop, pub or cross over to the Mount on the Causeway and back up the road if you want.
From the village, buses go regularly into Penzance and hence the rest of Cornwall, or to Helston and on to Falmouth in the other direction.
Trevenner Farmhouse, previously known as Angels Rest and used for spiritual and Raw Food retreats, is in a child-friendly location and ideally located for beach holidays, and bird watching (twitching) at the Marazion Marsh conservation area.
Its a great base for surfing holidays in Cornwall with Sennen Cove not far away and some surf braks on the Cornish South Coast too. We are close to the Cornish Coastal Path between Perranuthnoe and Penzance - excellent for a group walking or running holiday. The Classic Quarter Endurance race is run along here in June, starting from Lizard point to Lands End - a total of 44 miles.
Why not come for the sailing week in June, the Helston Floral Day (The Furry Dance) in May, or Penzance Festival Day in June.

The West Country / Cornwall region

West Cornwall is a magical place full of legend, sacred sites and miles of unspoilt beaches. Once a separate country, the Duchy is great for walking the clifftops buffeted by healthy Atlantic winds or exploring hidden coves.
With picturesque fishing villages adorning its shore, Cornwall is one of the best places to experience a different pace of life within the UK.
There are many great surfing beaches with surfboard and wetsuit hire by the day or week in Cornwall
The Marazion / St Michael's Mount area
The seaside town of Marazion is one of the oldest towns in great Britain, home to the castle in the sea, St Michaels Mount, set on a fairytale island – a focal point for the whole of Mounts Bay. Marazion has award winning and breath taking beaches, catering for couples and families. An ideal location for West Cornwall, near to lively Penzance and St Ives.
Trevenner or Trevennar Farm House became called Angels Rest because everyone who visited felt they slept like an angel in the house, and spiritually revived by the sense of peace here. St Michaels Mount has many reported sightings of Arc Angel Michael and is the birth place of King Arthur (so legend says).
Its an easy walk from the village to Marazion Marsh wetlands which are famed for birdwatching so its a great base for a birdwatching break. (See the links page on our website to find out more) Many rare birds can be seen here including Bittern, Spotted Crake and Chiffchaffs.
The picturesque Marazion Beach is well used for Kite Surfing and by windsurfers and Power Kites. There is a kite surfing school in Marazion if you feel tempted to have a go.
From Penzance there is a ferry servcie, The Scillonian, or a helicopter service to the Scilly Isles but book quickly as this is expected to close soon.
