The Trinidad region
The Climate in Trinidad offers a minimum temperature of 30 degrees. During the months of January to June (dry season) this could rise to 40 degrees.
Trinidad nestles close by the coast of South America, 1864 sq miles and holds a mixture of Nature's exuberance, from the mountains of the Northern Range to the central plains to the soft green hills of the south.
Trinidad is ethnic diversity. African and Indian descendants dominate the mix, but throw in Chinese, Lebanese, European and Amerindian and you have a very special blend.
Trinidad offers exotic wildlife and ranks among the top ten countries of the world in terms of the number of species per square mile.Trinidad is poised to become a mecca for ECO-TOURISTS.
This extraordinary nation has also given the world the only new acoustic musical instrument invented this century - THE STEEL PAN.
Why not discover what Trinidad has to offer now, before the rush!
The Maracas Bay area
Trindad CARNIVAL is the oldest and greatest of all carnivals. Visit Trinidad between January 1st and Ash Wednesday and witness a culture preparing to celebrate itself. The greatest show on earth was born here.
Parties are a serious pastime here, and Carnival is the biggest bash of all.
Trinidad is obsessed with sport. It is all available here, horse racing, golf, Kayaking, wind-surfing and of course TEST CRICKET.
The capital Port of Spain offers the Queen's Park Savannnah, the extraordinary series of buildings known as the Magnificent Seven, Independence Square, shops, bars restaurants, discotherques. In short a buzzing city.
Maracas Bay (PORT OF SPAIN'S PLAYGROUND) is only a four minute drive from the villa. Here you will find a beautiful sandy beach and have the opportunity to taste the local dish ' BAKE AND SHARK'. The local fare is a real revelation. You must try the ROTI, DOUBLES, PELAU, CALLALOO .Finally, as any trini will tell you, the beer and the rum are second to none.
In terms of exotic wildlife you must visit Asa Wright Nature Centre, Caroni Swamp, Nariva Swamp (David Attenborough's 'The Trials of Life' was filmed here) La Brea Pitch Lak, a lake you can walk on.There are 13 official wildlife sanctuaries.
From the villa itself you will hear the red howler monkeys and see many species of birds including hming birds and parrots. Marlin fishing and boat trips around the islands can be organised to suit.
