The Costa Calida/Murcia region
The region of the Costa Calida is blessed with a fantastic Mediterranean climate and boasta around 320 days of sunshine per year. The Costa Calida has a tremendous history and is of great historical importance to Spain in general and the region of Murcia / Coasta Calida in particular.
A day trip to Murcia, (about 20 minutes drive) to visit some of the stunning historical places of interest, art and culture is a must. Likewise a visit to the ancient seaport of Cartegena, (10 minute drive) to stroll along the harbour and see ancient ruins is a wonderful family day out.
The Mar Menor is the largest natural saltwater lagoon in Europe and the waters sustain average temperatures of some 17 degrees warmer than the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. The towns around the Mar Menor are small, bustling, traditional and lively, and the people who live their are warm, friendly and inviting.
The beaches have been awarded ¬Blue Flag` status for their cleanliness and have been declared the cleanest in Spain by the World Health Organisation.
The region is of course becoming more and more famous for its fabulous array of golf courses, and is now world renowned for its Jack Nicklaus Golf Trail, of witch the Mar Menor Golf Resort plays an iintegral part, being the first resort developed by Polaris.
Mar Menor Golf Resort / Polaris World nr Los Alcazares area
Situated approximately 5Km from San Javier (Murcia) Airport and approximately 90Km from Alicante Airport this Resort is widely viewed and renowned as the premier of the Polaris World Resorts. This is a luxury, security gated resort with 24 hour security and a host of activities on offer including golf, tennis, and of course there is a tremendous range of spa treatments readily availble.
Other facilities include some of the most exquisite fine dining restaurants anywhere in the Mar Menor ,and there are a number of relaxing theme bars to catch up and socialise with friends and family . Couple this with the driving range, on site supermarket, hair and beauty salon, medical centre, social club with large communal pool and a gym which is free to owners and guests alike, then you really do have everything on your doorstep for an outstanding and relaxing holiday.
Local Activities
Fiestas: There are many fiestas throughout the Costa Calid region, a local guide book will identify the timings so you can plan your visit.
Local Market: Local markets are held at various towns throughout the week. the two closest markets are at Los Alcazares (2Km) on a Tuesday and Torre Pachecco (1Km) on a Thursday
Beaches: Los Alcazares (2Km) and Los Narejos (4Km) large promenades with an array of local tapas bars, and Mediterranean seafood specialities.
Water Sports: Local water sports of Sailing, watersking, windsurfing, snorkelling and scuba diving are readily available
Golf Course: The course at the Mar Menor is in superb condition and as you would expect from a resort of this standard a dress code and standard of play is expected. Lessons from the on site coaches are available at an hourly premium on the resorts driving range.
Other local courses within a short drive are La Serena (1Km) Roda Golf (3Km) La Manga Club (20Km) and Hacienda Del Alamo (30Km)
How to get there
There are a number of budget airlines including easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2, Monarch, Thomson, and Flyglobespan who fly into San Javier (Murcia) 10 minutes from the resort, or Alicante which is approximately 50 minutes from the resort.
From both Airports getting to the resort is very simple. AP-7 for Cartegena and take the cut off for Torre Pacecco, keep following the signs for Torre Pachecco until you pass the large Polaris World Garden Centre on your left, you are now two minutes from the resort. Could not be simpler!
If you prefer our keyholder can arrange a transfer / collection for you from the airport direct to the resort for an additional charge.

Further details outdoors: The villa sits on a south facing position facing onto the 6th fairway with views of the green. It has three terraces, outdoor dining area, barbecue area, shaded area and of course, a large private heated swimming pool. Because of its central position it is only 100m from the resort centre, which boasts the Hotel Intercontinental, driving range, Tennis courts, HAir and Beauty Salon, Spa Centre, fabulous selection of restaurants and bars, , social club with large outdoor swimming pool and alfresc bar, (available to all owners and guests) Fitness Gym (free to owners and guests) and of course it is a three minute walk to the first tee from the property.
Further details
A non refundable deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking.
The balance of the booking must be paid in full six (6) weeks prior to arrival.
A Security deposit of £250 will be required against any breakages / damages and this will be refunded after inspection and typically within 10 days of the guest vacating the property.
The property owner has left a manual in the villa which will help all guests make the most of their time in the MAr Menor, please do not remove from the property.
