Home description
Whether you are a golfer or just want to laze in the sun Blue Moon is the villa for you! We have tried hard to furnish this villa as we would want to find it with everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We hope you like it and want to return. Enjoy your holiday!
The wonderful light and airy villa with its ceiling fans provide an ideal holiday environment and the garden with its pool and patio area are great for parties and barbecues.
There are many golf courses apart from the one surrounded by the villa. The Polaris World courses have shuttle buses to transport you if you don't feel like taking the car or wish to leave it for the family to go to the beach. On the beautiful sandy beaches there are tapas bars a plenty so you don't have to walk far for that cool refreshing drink! The waters of the Mar Menor is particularly safe for children as well as being very beneficial for ailments such as arthritis so even if you only stand in the water to cool off you are having beneficial treatment from the minerals at the same time. At San Pedro you can actually scoop up the mud for its healing benefits and bask in the sun before washing it off and having a relaxing swim in the sea. There are many typical Spanish villages and towns in the area where you can see the sites or just sit and relax and watch the world go by over a coffee or a cool beer.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region
For families, the beach is around 15 minutes away with many tapas restaurants. There are many shopping malls as well as the traditional Spanish towns. For culture why not try Cartagena, the old port with its museum, or Murcia with it historical interests. The waters of Mar Menor are supposed to be very beneficial and at the nearby town of San Pedro, people enjoy covering themselves in the healing properties of the mud and basking in the sunshine before washing it off in the warm waters of the Mar Menor sea. A zoo has recently opened up near Murcia which delights the children and adults alike. There is also a water theme park alongside.
Mar Menor Golf Resort / Polaris World nr Los Alcazares area
Mar Menor Golf Resort is situated on a beautiful 9 hole course with a further 9 holes in progress. There are many other courses nearby with varying degrees of difficulty. The other Polaris courses, La Torre, En Valley and the other Polaris golf resorts, can be reached by the free shuttle bus if required and of course this bus can be used to visit the restaurants on these sites so one can enjoy the vino without having to drive home! Torre Pacheco is about a 5 minute drive away and is a traditional Spanish town with many shops and tapas bars. The fiestas are always something to watch too. Santiago de Riberia has a wonderful fish restaurant on the beach and miles of golden sands.
The Mar Menor is Europe’s biggest salt-water lagoon, separated from the Mediterranean by the 24km long La Manga strip. The Mar Menors salinity provides buoyancy so it is, supposedly, one of the safest places to swim in the world. It is also renowned for its high water temperatures which are retained well into the autumn months. 3000 hours of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 17 C This area is famous for its mineral-rich waters, rich in iodine and salt, which have therapeutic properties believed to ease various ailments - particularly infections and rheumatism.
San Pedro Del Pinatar - As you fly over on the plane you may well see "pink lakes". These are in the vicinity of San Pedro Del Pinatar, an area dedicated to the exploitation of salt dating back to Roman times. The area is also well appreciated for its....mud! Famous for its curative properties because of its high mineral content many people can be seen plastered in it! The muds of Las Charcas in Lo Pagan are highly appreciated by many. The therapeutic values of the mud are used for: Rheumatism, arthritis, gout, skin disorders, bone rehabilitiation, throat complaints and more!
Murcia City - The historic city of Murcia, a short journey away by car or public transport, is located in a plain and lies enclosed between a rugged mountain range and nearby fine sand beaches. It provides extensive access to many restaurants, bars, stunning architecture and retail outlets. For a flavour of this region’s culture and history, Murcia offers a wealth of museums, monuments, a beautiful cathedral and some interesting 19th century architecture. If you enjoy football, Real Murcia is now in the Premier League, playing the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, so you could catch a game at their new impressive stadium.
One of Murcia’s outstanding features is the river Segura that crosses the city and is crowned by seven bridges, built in different architectural styles, its banks lined with promenandes and narrow, twisting streets. The City’s masterpiece is however, the 14th Century Cathedral de Santa Maria, with its wonderful Baroque façade and a tower, from which great views of the city can be admired and nearby the Cathedral, in the 18th Century Square, is the Glorieta, the perfect place to relax.
Lands rich with fruit trees, mountains covered with pines, vineyards and unforgettable scenery surround Murcia.
Cartegena - Facing the Mediterranean Sea, is the region’s most important port and a quiet but modern city, despite its 3000 years of history. The ancient port of Cartagena, was a strategic military base in Roman times. This is a very Spanish city, virtually untouched by tourism – here you can see the ruins of an old Roman theatre, visit the numerous archaeological museums, including Roman and Punic displays, castle, cathedral (1388), Bishop’s Palace, The Isaac Peral’s Submarine, several historic churches and pretty port area.
Los Alcazares -The seaside town of Los Alcazares has many restaurants and beachside bars, just 15 minutes from La Torre. It is very much still a Spanish holiday destination, and retains a style and class all of its own. On Tuesdays and Saturdays there is a local market well worth a visit.
Alicante - The cosmopolitan city of Alicante, about 100 kilometres north along the coast, is a wonderful shopping centre and has one of the most attractive and liveliest beachfront promenades in the whole of Spain.
Torre Pacheco - the nearest town , there is a large fresh fruit and vegetable market every Saturday morning and of course plenty of markets in the other towns.
San Javier - Just 20 minutes drive away is Dos Mares shopping mall, which includes 10 pin bowling, cinema and an extensive food hall.
Shopping at Nueva Condomina - Towards Murcia, 20 minutes in the other direction is Nueva Condomina, a recently opened shopping mall with some 200 shops, including many UK high street chains that you will be familiar with. This complex also provides a huge range of restaurants, 10 pin bowling and 6 screen cinema.
Water Parks and Animal Park - The New Water Park (Terra Aqua Murcia) and Animal Park (Terra Natura Murcia) provide a wonderful family day out, with something for all ages. Check out their website www.terranatura.com.
How to get there
There are many budget airlines, including Easyjet, Jet 2, Monarch and others, which fly into San Javier airport - about 15 minutes away (7 kilometres). Alicante is around 50 minutes.
For car hire I would recommend Car Jet as they always seem to be very reasonably priced and provide good service with a wide range of vehicles. They can be reached right outside the airport terminal. It is extremely easy to reach the villa with good roads - please ask for directions.
Taxis are freely available if preferred and they would cost around 20 euros
