Home description

The apartment is situated in a very quiet upmarket area called Playa Chica. It is situated on the top (8th) floor of a very nice building, with secure entrance and on-site caretakers. The living room, kitchen and bedroom all look out over the sea, with a balcony running the whole length with doors opening from the living room and the bedroom. The apartment block is approx. 25 years old with two excellent elevators.

The caretakers are available for help at all times and the owners live six blocks away.

The apartment has under-gone extensive modernisation and is now ready for use (mid-October 07).

The Central Argentina / Buenos Aires Province region

Mar del Plata is situated in the Province of Buenos Aires, 400 kms (250 miles) south of Buenos Aires, on the Atlantic ocean. Summer is from December to March with temperatures ranging from 15-30 degrees. June to August is winter and although it can get very cold, the daily temperatures still reach about 10 degrees with blues skies and sunshine.

Mar del Plata area

Mar del Plata, known as "La Ciudad Feliz" (the happy city) lives up to its name. There are no shortage of restaurants, cafés, clubs, pubs, discos for the young and old alike, including many traditional events of Tango. There are also many theatres and cinemas (with English speaking films) and of course the casino. You will also find many musical events and tango on the sea front in the centre of town, where everybody can join in.

As well as the best beaches and golf clubs, there are every kind of water sports available including waterskiing, surfing, diving, sailing, canoeing and of course swimming. If you aren't too keen on water, how about horse riding, trekking, cycling, polo, football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, rugby, quad biking, paragliding, go-carting, fishing, cruising, walking and many more. For the less sporty, there are museums and buildings of different architectural beauty.

Only want a relaxing holiday, then spend your time lazing on one of the many private beaches. You don't even need to get up as waiter service extends to the beaches.

How to get there

Mar del Plata (MDP) is 400km (250 miles) south of Buenos Aires and is situated on the Atlantic ocean. There are daily flights from Buenos Aires (BA) to MDP which take approx. 40 minutes. MDP airport is located on the outskirts of the city, about 14kms (10 miles) from the centre of the city. Alternatively, and the most popular route is a 5.15 hour coach journey from Retiro bus station in BA, to the bus terminal in MDP. These coaches have seats that can be semi-reclined or totally reclined. The prices vary from 9-10 pounds each way and is non-stop. The coach has a toilet and hot and cold drinks machine. You will also be provided with a snack. There is also a train service between BA and MDP, but have been told it is not really recommended and can take as long as the coach or longer. This service is being modernised and updated, but will take a few years. For a large party of people, a private mini-bus can be hired at a cost of about 150 pounds. There are many car hire companies if you prefer to drive and it will take about 4 hours, depending on stops.

The bathroom has a bath and shower over and there is a single futon sofa bed in the living room and a small double sofa bed. The two single beds in the bedroom join to make a large double,

Cable TV with many channels showing English films and programmes.

The apartment building has it's own underground parking and this is available at an extra cost. The Caretakers are in charge of parking and payment.

The English speaking owners are available all the time and will be able to answer any questions regarding the apartment or the city.

Conditions

I would not recommend it for people with toddlers or young children due to the balcony.

I also have available another large 1 bed apartment suitable for children of all ages, in the apartment building next door. This is on the ground floor, with a balcony and partial seaview and good security. This will be available from the beginning of December and will sleep upto 4/5 people.

This property is the same price as the property advertised. Although it does not have a panoramic view, it is much bigger.
