Very Relaxing Holiday
Date of Stay 11 September 2012
Chose this apartment based on location and good reviews and I must say we were not disappointed. Apartment spacious and adequate room for the 4 of us with a large rooftop terrace ideal for crashing out and reading or listening to music as well as the smaller terrace which was great for breakfast or lunch. Apartment very clean and all amenities provide although the TV could do with being a bit bigger as it was hard to watch the football which was on for 2 nights whilst we were there that was a minor point. As it was getting to the end of the season Mar De Cristal was very quite and there was only one restaurant open which was the Italian one which was very good but in the town of Los Belones which is literally 5 minutes drive away there are restaurants to suite everyone from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, English and of course Spanish and every one offered excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Beach at Mar De Crisal lovely with a great beach bar at the end which did great snacks at lunch time and we had a couple of late evenings there just sitting and looking out at the sea with a beer in our hand. Due to one of our party getting injured a few days before travelling we were unable to get any golf in but on driving around found it is an ideal location for golf with many top courses within 30 minutes drive away. Overall an excellent holiday with both location and accommodation great and we will certainly consider returning again in the future.

We have stayed on 2 occasions at Ribeira Beach and were keen to return. As there were more of us we found this superb apartment with a roof terrace. The apartment was excellent. It was clean and tidy and was perfectly equipped for self catering. The roof terrace was private and offered lovely views. Overall I would say this apartment is ideal for holidays where you want everything accessable. Its only a half hour drive from Murcia airport and there is easy access to beaches and supermarkets. Its also a great location for sports enthusiasts.

Returned from holiday about a week ago , still cannot over the fantastic views we had from both the balcony and the `private` roof terrace. The apartment was clean and very well stocked with all essential utensils ,crockery and glassware you would need !Excellant apartment clean , modern sat tv cooker hob dishwasher , has everything it says on the ad , my only dislike was , because there were only two of us in the apartment , which had three double bedrooms , ther was only two sets of towels available , not a big problem really , we washed them every couple of days in the machine and dried in under two hours in the blistering heat on the roof terrace .If you are lookig for a quiet getaway just to chill and do absolutely nothing this it . The most exciting we saw every day was the local goat herd passing , thats how quiet it is , except the occasional fly past by the Spanish Red Arrows display team , they fly over quite low , so if you are sunbathing on the terrace beware what you are wearing !Overall a splendid apartment to have a realxing holiday < my wife have stayed in Mar De Cristal several times and in this apartment twice , and I must say this is my favourite and has the most stunning views. Whenever some asks me about my holiday I recommend this , hope thsi review helps you in making your decison,go for it its Perfect !

First class holiday spot!

Visited this apartment 3 times and can't fault it. Equipped to a high standard, it's roomy and (most important!) the beds are comfortable. If you really want a suntan there is a secluded sun terrace with good views. Very handy for Murcia airport which is only 13 miles along the coast. Mar De Cristal is a small town that has not been overdeveloped like some Spanish resorts but it has everything you could require within 5 mins of the apartment. Good walking area if you follow the road to the left – and you can finish up, as we did last time, at one of the bars overlooking the lagoon, having a drink in the sunshine. But what we most enjoy about the apartment is waking up on a spring morning and having a leisurely breakfast on the balcony while taking in the stunning views over the fields to the hills of Calblanque nature reserve. (Birdwatchers should note there is a colony of Audoin's gulls down at the Salinas on the shore at Calblanque.) We also enjoy a ride down the La Manga strip to the tip where the Mediterranean meets the Mar Menor – good shoes needed as it can be muddy! The Roman amphitheatre at Cartagena, which is currently being restored, is well worth a visit. To gain access you need to go to the museum near the marina - although you can climb some steep steps and peek over the wall. Boat trips are available from the marina in Cartagena. So, to finish, if you want a good holiday place and an excellent apartment, this is it!

The Murcia region
The climate is warm and sunny the area boasts 315 days sunshine a year. The Mar Menor is about 5 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean. Mar de Cristal is on the Mar Menor and only 5 to 10 minutes walk from apartment. Mar de Cristal beach is sandy, very swallow at edge making it safe for small children. The Mar Menor is the largest natural pool in the world and a paradise for all types of water sports in fact the area is excellent for all sport.
La Manga Club is a 10 minute drive with all its facilities available to non residents, this includes its championship golf courses, all its other sports facilities, bars, nightclub and spa.
The area has many unspoilt beautiful quiet relaxing beaches and of course ones where you can still get the 3 course menu of the day at lunchtime for a very good price.
Cabo de Palos is a lovely fishing village with excellent deep sea diving.
There are local markets everyday in the area.
Murcia area has some very interesting fiestas, Easter being the most spectacular. Chariots through the streets at Lorca, hundreds of people waving palms on Palm Sunday in Elche. Hannibal arriving in Cartagena is a good week at the end of September. Plus many smaller ones in local area.
Cartagena a 20 minutes drive and offers a complete contrast, it is a city with a very interesting history, museums, excellent shopping, lovely harbour. Just outside Cartagena you can visit the mines and find out just why the Romans invaded this part of Spain.
For nature lovers there is Calblanque, Salinas V Arenales and Sierra de Espuna regional nature parks.
For the children there is a Zoo and a Waterpark.
Mar De Cristal
Mar de Cristal has a lovely sandy beach, shallow safe waters and a marine. There are a few beach bars, (Arena has internet access) restaurants one with take away pizza (the Italian is the best food in Mar de Cristal), two supermarkets, tennis Club. All these can be found only a 5 to 10 minutes walk from the apartment. The tennis Club is open to non members and has good coaching both for traditional tennis and paddle tennis. The bar and restaurant at the Marine is also open to non members. Watersports available direct from Mar de Cristal Beach.
Local Activities, Golf 9 hole to championship courses, tennis with good coaching, scuba diving excellent from Cabo de Palos with Padi instruction, water skiing, wind-surfing, kiting, paragliding, kayaking, sailing, (good instruction and equipment hire available for all watersports) deep sea fishing, horseriding, mountain biking, cycling, swimming, walking and go karting.
The wonderful beaches of the regional park of Calblanque are only a 10 minute drive. A lovely place to spend the day and excellent for walkers, home to storks, flamingos, egrets, peregrine falcons, bee eaters, owls, eagles, foxes and rabbits. Some are seasonal visitors.
Los Belones, 5 minutes drive, has many varied excellent restaurants. Horse riding stables.
Cabo De Palos, 15 minute drive, is a charming fishing harbour with superb fish restaurants and a good Sunday market. The walk around the 19th century lighthouse is worth while. (Easter festival). Excellent for Scuba Diving.
La Manga Strip, 15 minutes drive, many restaurants, bars and nightlife. Excellent watersports all with good instruction available.
La Manga Club, 10 minutes drive, open to non residents with excellent sports facilites including championship golf courses, tennis, bowls, all watersports including excellent Scuba diving and good instruction. Bars, Night Club. Plus Spa facilities. Bikes for hire.
Cartagena (walled town) 30 minutes drive, fine port with restaurants, offering boat trips, musuems, good shopping, departmental store. Large Hypermarket on outskirts 20 minutes from apartment in large shopping area. Carthaginians and Romans festival of the mediterraniean in September.
La Union 20 minutes drive, trip into mineral mines.
Murcia, the capital of the area is about an hour away. On the outskirts there is a Zoo and Waterpark. Holy week Festival.
Lorca 1 1/14 hours Large Easter Festival, excellent museum showing costumes used in festival, castle.
Sierra Espuna 1 hour to the start of route through mountains, lovely scenery but drive not for feint hearted on anyone with fear of heights. Quad biking and kayaking trips available.

"Great place for a holiday"
Visited this apartment 3 times and can't fault it. Equipped to a high standard, it's roomy and (most important!) the beds are comfortable. If you really want a suntan, there is a secluded sun terrace with good views. Very handy for Murcia airport which is only 13 miles along the coast. The couple who look after the apartment, Pete and Jan, are very helpful and see that everything is ok for our arrival. They also provide bread, milk and butter to welcome us.
