Villa Clementina is located in Prazeres, a few minutes from Jardim do Mar and Calheta. Here you can enjoy one of the unique sandy beaches of the island, as well all the facilities and water sports that Marina offers. The area also has several good restaurants, bars, supermarkets and other facilities, and is connected to all parts of the island by modern roads, which allow to reach Funchal in less than 30 minutes and the airport in 45 minutes.

1. Calheta´s Marina

Great spot for water sports. It has a sandy beach, several restaurants and a shopping center with several facilities.

2. Sociedade de Engenhos da Calheta

Factory with more than half a century, which works once a year. It offers guided tours where you can watch and learn how rum, sugarcane are manufactured. After that, you can taste the delicious honey cake served with Poncha in the tasting room.

3. Levadas, walks and paths

Some of the major walking routes of the famous Laurel Forest (UNESCO World Heritage Site), are located just minutes from the Villa Clementina, one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes of the island, as internationally recognized, offering memorable landscapes to its visitors. 4. Centro das Artes Casa das Mudas

Building internationally awarded for its architecture and seamless integration into the landscape. The center includes exhibition area, auditorium, library, shop, café, restaurant and a wide cultural entertainment area for workshops and art workshops.

The building was designed to create a sober and pleasant environment, providing vision of perspectives from the inside, on the sea and the surrounding hillsides.

5. Farol da Ponta do Pargo

Located in the village of Ponta do Pargo, 20 minutes from Prazeres, this lighthouse stands on a cliff 300 meters above the sea level in the Lookout Point, the westernmost point on the island of Madeira, whose construction dates from 1922.

6. Quinta Pedagógica dos Prazeres

The Fifth Pedagogical pleasures is a project of enhancement of rural areas, which has a packed cultural and multimedia offering of county traditions.

8. Sports and Leisure Activities

The area has a variety of sports activities outdoors and in different natural areas (beach, field, forest and mountain).

At sea, you can go sailing, fishing, water skiing, surfing, spearfishing and scuba diving.

On land, in addition to hiking highlight paragliding, mountain biking trails, canyoning, abseiling, among other eco-tourism activities.

9. Surf / Bodyboard / SUP

There are excellent places to practice surfing with waves up to 8 meters. Paul do Mar offers the best tubular waves, Ponta Pequena (between Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar) offers a perfect right wave, Lugar de Baixo (Ponta do Sol) has the fastest waves and for beginners, São Vicente on the north coast it´s the ideal place. Clube Naval de São Vicente and Surf Clube Madeira are some of the clubs that offer surf lessons.

10. Gastronomy

A strong connection to the land and the sea is reflected in the Food Zone Calheta. Meat dishes stand out from the traditional skewered beef on a laurel spit, wine and garlic meat, chopped and grilled meat dishes.

For fish lovers there are good specialty restaurants, serving cod, mixed grilled fish, dishes with a wide variety of seafood, snails, grilled limpets, black scabbard fish fillet served with banana.
